Where did the OP go? This topic has been discussed a million times on here, and there are always disagreements. The way that post was written smells like a troll

Wow, $12,000.  I guess if you have it, spend it.

My one carat, diamond ring only cost $800.  They aren’t those high quality diamonds.  But hey I am not a jeweler, and I will not be putting it under a magnifier to look for flaws.

I think it all boils down love and what you are comfortable with.  When I look at the ring I only think about my future husband, not how much it cost.  Everyone is comfortable with different price tags.

Some people buy expesive cars, mine car cost $14,000.  Do I feel bad about spending too much or too less.  No and neither should you.

It is your money!

Regardless of all this bickering, I understand your point that 12K is a lot of money. Could you sell the stone and purchase an alternative? I was looking online at different diamond prices and my moissanite would cost between 4-6K if it were a diamond. That’s almost the same price as my wedding budget! If my Fi would have proposed with an expensive ring, I would have returned it and used the money for an investment. I’m so glad I went with an alternative, but I try hard not to judge others for their choices. For example, a lot of ladies who already own a diamond saw my ering and freaked out about its size and fire. I didn’t want to go into a whole speech about miossanite and conflict-free politics, so I just said thank you. I didn’t want to insult their choices (and for all I know they could be wearing conflict-free or ashas.)

Everyone, let’s not try to bicker about this and just try to help find a solution for the OP.

I have a real diamond, I prefer my fine jewelry to be “real”, as in mined and not heat-treated or chemically-treated.

I personally wouldn’t spend $12K on any peice of jewelry. My ring cost a total of $3K, and half of that was the setting (pave diamonds and platinum).

Playing devil’s advocate for a second: what if someone considers people that chose alternatives “shallow” because “they only went with the alternative to get a bigger stone”? (Disclaimer: I personally do not think that, I could care less what jewelry someone else has. But I have seen comments before eluding to that.)

It looks similar to this.  It is just a bunch of little diamonds put together.  I love it.

Yep, this is a troll post for sure.

However, if by some chance I’m wrong, I do hope we get a picture of this $12k ring she’s so conflicted over.

@Crisark: I know of several bees with rings of $10k +. The 1c Tiffany solitaire starts at $9k and the 1c Tiffany novo starts at $11,500.

I think people just want proof of a picture to see if it’s a troll or not.  Not questioning the price of the ring.
