I’m sorry that you feel that way!  If I was in your shoes, I would feel exactly the same.

Every day I look at my sapphire I am so thankful we went the non-diamond route.  I’m also incredibly proud of my unique and beautiful ring.

Fiance picked it out all by himself, knowing that I don’t like diamonds, and believe me–there’s such a greater element of surprise when you don’t know the stone of your future e-ring!

I was thrilled when I saw it.  I was also thrilled when he told me it only cost $455 🙂

@abbyful: And that “real” comment could be insulting to moissy owners who have real stones…just not diamonds.  Not everyone chooses something other than diamonds just to get a bigger stone.  Some of us actually like the look of moissanite because of the increased sparkle, among other reasons…

@Loribeth: lol well whether my ring is $.50 or $50gazillion dollars, or .0000000000000005 carats or 50000000 carats, I still fully expect people to be “jealous” of me and my ring.  Obviously it’ll be GORG because everyone’s ring is beautiful!  Most importantly, though, people will be jealous of me, not because I have a ring, but because I have the most amazing Fiance in the world.  They’ll be jealous because I have someone who loves me so much he bought me an engagement ring to show the world he wants to be with me forever.  Ladies only wish they had a man as awesome as mine Wink

(ETA: This was to show that we shouldn’t be comparing and jealous of other people’s rings.  Rings are material.  What people should be jealous of (if they’re going to be jealous about anything at all– something I think is dumb in and of itself) is how lucky the girl is to have someone who loves her that much.)

@LMD84: I died laughing when I read your ring was a conflict diamond.  You beat me to it but I wanted to respond with something hilarious.  🙂

@missyjane77:  I agree about the “real” comment.   Saying it’s a “real” diamond, doesn’t make it any more “real.”

My entire wedding is under 8K so I cant even imagine having a 12K ring.. but if you really feel bad about it cant you trade it in for something about half the price?

@nj001: I have a little diamond regret too. I had never heard of moissanite or white sapphire before my engagement. had I known, I would have asked for one of those, and would have asked for 2 carats to boot.

but instead, I asked for a small diamond to be modest– I did not want an expensive ring on my finger, it made me nervous.

well, I LOVE my inexpensive small diamond ring, I really do! I will not trade it in for the world, because it’s unique and my Fiance did a good job picking it out. but I would have loved a nice big moissy too.

Bells makes a good point– do you have the opportunity to trade it in?
