If you got braces to fix it now, would they be officially off before the wedding or would you have to have them taken off and put back on again afterward? I personally didn’t want braces at my wedding but I wouldn’t have wanted my crazy teeth in the pictures either. I have a friend who just had engagement pictures done with braces on and it’s hardly noticeable.

You say you’ve had braces before, so I’m assuming you remember how awful it is to get braces removed- at least for me, the physical removal was by far the worst part. I would not want to have to do that twice, and have them put on twice also.

@WILLIAKELLLB: I got braces just for the wedding. they were on for only a month. They offered me for the price of a retainer, basically an invisalign.

Also, 4 years, is a long time. Have you tried a different place? I got 6 month smile. And they’re tooth colored, and you couldn’t see them.

@WILLIAKELLLB: try out 6 month smile. It was tough for me because my bite was so small. But I LOVE it!

There are so many options now when it comes to braces. You can get the regular metal ones and have them removed for the wedding.

You could get like I had and get the ceramic braces. They are clear/tooth colored so it truly looks like you’re wearing just a retainer wire. I think Mr.ND noticed I had them after about 5 months! LOL. I think they were a little more than metal, but I was in HS so my mom agreed that to be fair, she’d pay the little extra.

There are also braces now that have brackets that go INSIDE of your mouth, rather than on the outside of the tooth. So you really won’t see them. My guess is that they’re the most expensive of the 3 options, but it would keep you from having to remove them or see them in photos.

I am sporting my braces, they are coming off in Jan-Feb, I cannot wait. I am waiting to take them off to do our Engagement pictures, I feel more confortable doing it that way. I’ve had mine on for 3 years (major problems with my teeth), and seriously I couldn’t imagine having to put them back on again.

If your braces aren’t ready to come off I wouldn’t take them off! However, if you don’t want to see braces in your photographs how about talking with your photographer about being able to photoshop them out of your photos!

@WILLIAKELLLB:  I think they can look cute – especially for your engagement photos.  I wouldn’t want them on for my wedding but it sounds like they’ll be off by then.

@WILLIAKELLLB: I opted for invisalign. I was told I’d be done with the process and have my attachments off by the wedding, but that was not the case. The process is still continuing. But, I was able to have the attachments removed for the wedding at least. Even though they match the color of my teeth, I didn’t want to be self-conscious worrying about them when I smiled in front of guests as I spoke with them. They were on my teeth for the engagement photos but didn’t show up at all. I hope you can have a quick and least invasive process. Good luck and start a.s.a.p.!
