I think adding straps would be fine, but it looks great as is!

@7monthbride:  My seamstress is custom making it.  I just needed something to feel better in my church (I know I’m crazy old fashioned.)

Love it!  I think since the back is so dramatic with the bow, you really don’t need straps.  One thing the woman suggested to me was getting sparkly buttons every 3rd or 4th button or so!

    Great choice!  =)

I think it’s really important that you make your dress look like what you’ve always wanted. It looks gorgeous strapless but if you’ve always wanted straps, add them! They will also look nice.

@stargurl101:  That’s what I was thinking too.   It’s just like when I see other brides changing their gown to a sweetheart neckline, when I think the dress looks gorgeous with the original neckline. But the original neckline wasn’t what the bride dreamed of when she thought of her wedding gown… Straps are the same thing… The gown is beautiful without them, but if OP dreamed of a dress with straps, then she should add them, because the gown will still be beautiful, but it will also be what she dreamed of.

It is so pretty and you look great in it! I would keep it as is!

If you do want straps you should take a look at Paloma Blancas dress #4001 for inspiration for your straps! It is very similar to yours and you may like it!

I have seen some bees take them off for reception, either way it is a win and a beautiful dress!

Im a Paloma bride to be and it looks just like one! Love the pockets.  ๐Ÿ™‚

I think that dress looks AMAZING on you as-is. What are you most comfortable with though?

Ifi’s just for the emotional idea that you were going to have straps, but ended up strapless, I’d say leave it strapless. It’s gorgeous on you! I also think it would look gorgeous with the simple pearls you described. If it’s a comfort thing, or something you absolutely want, then go for it. You look wonderful, but you should have what makes you feel the best, not what I (a random internet stranger) thinks ๐Ÿ™‚

I went in with the idea that I’d rather sleeves or something. When I tried on a strapless, it made the top half of me look odd (I’m tallish and it made the space between the top of the dress and my chin look oddly long and vast). I ended up with a one shoulder dress (though it took me a lot to give up the idea of cap sleeves)

I am in the same boat!  I have always been vehemently anti-strapless (for myself), but I feel in love with a strapless dress.  I might have straps added, but I suspect I won’t.  It is a weird feeling going for something you were so sure you were against, but you look fantastic in your dress, and that is what matters!

I don’t think it will ruin your dress if you add straps. For our wedding, my dress was strapless.  For our reception, I added straps, and I don’t think it ruined the dress at all.

    Here it is without straps.

    Here it is with straps.

I think the deciding factor for me is your grandmother’s pearls.  I would do no straps so that you don’t have too much going on on the neckline!

If you did straps, I would just do spaghetti straps.  I think it will completely change the dress, and I love the basic shape with the sweetheart.

    Something like this:

I vote yes to spaghetti straps and no to the other straps!
