Wear whatever you want… be that a traditional Wedding Dress, other Dress… or even your shorts & flip flops

It sounds “kitchy”… but in this regard it is your day, so go with whatever will make you feel the best about YOU and your relationship with your SO

In our case we are Eloping to a favourite Vacation Spot for a Destination Wedding (just the 2 of us).  And afterwards having a Back Home Reception / Party with Friends & Family.

Mr TTR is dressing all casual… and I’m still going the Wedding Dress route, despite being an Encore Bride “of a certain age”

Mind you, Mr TTR thinks my doing so is a bit over the top… in that I’ve had the Big White Pouffy Family Wedding before… so I won’t be going all glitz and glam… just something that says BRIDE and goes well with our more “laid back” Wedding theme / location

Plan is that we’ll both wear our “Wedding Attire” to our Back Home Reception too… so that folks can feel more in the spirit of the occasion, and besides, lol, it is another chance to get some value out of what is no doubt a fairly expensive purchase otherwise (2 wearings is half-the-price of just one)

    ๐Ÿ˜‰ *wink*

We don’t have any details on the wedding yet, but I’ve thought a lot about it. We’ll have a very tiny guest list too (unless we decide to just do something privately, and who knows, we may). It will definitely be a more relaxed atmosphere. Nothing too fancy. My dress will reflect that and be somewhat casual too. No ball gown or anything!

That said, I think the vibe of the wedding matters more than the size. You can have a 10 guest wedding, but a very formal affair, and then a more elaborate gown would be suitable. A casual backyard BBQ? Not as much.

    TO bohosioux:

Lol, for Mr TTR as “Encores” our energies have been spent on planning the elements of this Wedding / Marriage that is all about us vs what it was like the first time round.

So I hear you loud and clear…

So the majority of our budget has been spent on things that are “keepsakes” for us… so My Rings, Watches for our Hands of Time Ceremony, Photographer & Videographer, and Honeymoon.

The Back Home Reception we have planned is really quite modest… simple Invites, basic decor, Cocktails & Nibbles, Cake & Champagne, and DJ & Dancing.

We are marrying in the US South (it was going to be SC, but has since changed to Florida), on a Beach overlooking the Ocean… just the two of us and our Officiant.  Followed by Champagne Toasting, and then Dinner in a favourite Restaurant that also overlooks the ocean.  And then a very romantic Honeymoon… I cannot wait !!

I’ll have a very small wedding (with around 35 guests) in Hawaii. I think it does affect my choice of wedding dress. If I could wear whatever I want to wear, I’d definitely pick a dramatic ball gown and ask my fiance to wear a black tuxedo.

I attended an outdoor wedding (with around 100 guests) in a farm, where the bride wore a ball gown. Her ball gown was quite simple, but I really think it didn’t match with the scene at all. That’s why I decide to wear an A-line dress which has less volume than a ball gown.

I wore a lace dress to a small Destination Wedding wedding (38 guests) on a beach in very warm country.

Granted, I probably wouldn’t have worn a huge ballgown with a long train, a cathedral mantilla veil etc. but I also knew I didn’t want a typical beach wedding dress.

You should pick what you want and don’t feel like you’re limited to a ‘simple’ dress just because you’re having a small wedding. You should feel pretty on your one special day;)

I know I will also have very few guests at my wedding.   In this situation I would diffo were a dress.   These other beautiful ladies also wore gorgeous gowns.  I say go for it ๐Ÿ˜€
