I bought mine November 201 for our August 2014 wedding; no regrets.

It really depends on you; if you’re the kind who frequently changes your mind, it would probably be best to wait. But if you know yourself and your style, and really love it, I see no reason not to get it now.

I would wait personally. I think most of us have pinterest boards of wedding inspiration that have nothing in common with what we actually chose to do for the wedding.

If you are engaged, and it’s the dress of your dreams and in budget, I’d buy it.

Wait, but keep an eye on it so if it is going to be discontinued you can order it if you still love it before it is too late. Check for trunk sales and try on some similar dresses in the mean time.

I would wait. If the dress is still your dream dress in two years (and isn’t discontinued) then you can buy it then. And heck, it may even be cheaper!

I bought my dress but I’m a sucker for looking at other dresses. New designs that come out each season, the way the trends change, I think it’s risky. Especially if it’s a style that is “super popular” right now (i.e. mermaid) that may change and you’ll like something totally different in a year

I too feel like my opinion is always changing. I have another year until my wedding and havnt started dress shopping yet, but I think about what dresses I like constantly – and every week I think I want something different!! I feel like once I start trying stuff on and seeing whats good on me I’ll be able to pinpoint what I really want in a dress. Good luck!

brivacirca:  I bought my dress a year and a half out. I loved/love it. A lot of people thought/think I am crazy but whatever. The day is about me and I got what I wanted. I know I wont change my mind. ill try it on every now and then and when I do… I love it just that much more.

If you wait you may not beable to get it so think about that too. My dress was discontinued as most are each season.

I bought mine in January last year for a May 2015 wedding and ended up selling it in January and buying a new dress which thankfully has just arrived in the shop yesterday. I of course would say wait 8 months until the wedding but feel free to keep trying on as many as you want until then. (That’s the fun part anyway)

I feel in love with a dress 1.5 years before my wedding one of my first time trying on dresses.  I talked to my consulant about it- it was a brand new dress that just came out, and she said to be safe to order it at least 10 months before the wedding.  Since it was new, it wasn’t going to get discontinued, and the dress took a bit longer to order anyways.  I went other places to shop, came back to the same shop to try out new lines when they came out, and looked online but the original dress was always the one I compared every one else too.  10 months before the wedding, I did purchase my original dress, but because I was able to exhaust all the options I was very confident in doing so.
