I am really torn about whether or not to get the chair upgrades at our venue. Our venue is very small and I think the Chiavari Chairs help open up the room because of the lighter seat. However, it’s an extra $1000! I found pictures from two different events at our venue – one with Chiavari Chairs and one with the House Chairs. I’m just looking for some honest input. I’ve budgeted for the Chiavari Chairs so it’s not a big deal if everyone thinks they do in fact look that much better but if I can save the money, that’s pretty great too. 🙂
Some more information: We will fill the entire room with tables and chairs. No dancing. We are having our wedding during the day, so the lighting in the room will be different.

Those damn chairs! why do they have to look so good! I am torn on it too! Your house chairs in this case though, look pretty good! And $1000 difference- that could be used towards something else that is pretty big! Even if you decided to do some chair sashes or something would still be much cheaper. how much is is to rent them in your area? In Baltimore it is $7 a chair

your house chairs are very nice.
im a sucker for chairs and i made sure i chose a venue where i didn’t have to bring them in!
of course the chiavari ones look awesome… but i’d rather spend that $1000 or more food or something!

I love them, I’m going to upgrade to them. We are having our ceremony and reception at the same venue so we can use them for both. I’ve seen them as low as $5.50/chair (in San Diego, ie very expensive!!), so keep looking maybe you can find them cheaper.

@Breen86: It’s also $7/chair here plus a $125 delivery fee.
Here’s what the House Chairs look like during the day (this is a different floor in the mansion):

I am one of those guests who notices all the decor, chairs included. (Even before I started planning my own wedding.)
So I’d vote to splurge on the Chiavari chairs.

There is no way anyone with any style can say the house chairs look better. But with that in mind, they’re not horrible.

Chiavari for the win!
If you don’t have them no one will notice but if you do have them people will think it was a nice touch.

Don’t waste your money on chivari. They look like pretzels.

HOLY CRAP!!!! I opened this thread because we are wondering the same thing and lo and behold I see MY wedding venue in the pictures!! 🙂 We are so glad we found it, I LOVE this place. I definitely think the Chiavari chairs look way better in the space, it looks more elegant and fit the whole feel of the place (old Boston). I was originally thinking we would go with the other chairs to cut back on costs but my Fiance (who can be very frugal) said no way the chiavari chairs look much better after seeing them in person I agree.
So long story short, if you have it in your budget go with the chiavari chairs and they come in 5 colors I think.
I can’t wait to see pictures from your wedding! 🙂

$1000 is a LOT of money to spend on something that will be covered in people’s butts the whole time. :p The house chairs look perfectly lovely, so unless you are DEAD SET on having chivari, I’d save the money!

I actually am one of the people who don’t get all the fuss about chiavari chairs. However I think given how small the room is, it opens up the room a lot and makes a big difference. I say go for it!
