Our venue got new chairs. I was expecting something a little more .. um.. “classy”?
Now, our wedding isn’t going to be super formal or anything, but I was at least envisioning the wooden garden style chairs. In the beginning, the venue getting new chairs was up in the air so we were going to buy chair covers for their old brown banquet style chairs. We were realizing as time went on, it really wasn’t in the budget so we were excited to hear they finally got the new chairs. However, as mentioned, I expected something a little different.
We are having between 100-125 guests. An “elegant” buffet with carving stations, etc. (I say “elegant” because a buffet isn’t necessarily elegant, however I think the carving stations give it a nicer feel.) Our centerpieces are brown satin table runners with votive candles, and a vase with pink gerbera daisies and white roses (or vice versa). It is at a golf club in their function “Barn”. It is a converted barn.. I guess. I’ve never seen it in person due to our distance from our wedding location.
Covering them will run us approximately $250-$300 depending on the # of RSVPs we get. It isn’t really in our budget, but we will make it work if we need to.
So, the chair picture is below. Would you cover them, or not?
They got these chairs:

They realy aren’t that bad, but if you really hate them cover them. They aren’t super fancy or anything but atleast they are white and new so they will be in good cndition. Maybe you could think of a less costly alternative to dressing them up a bit?

I would buy the covers.
You might be able to find some used ones on here for a little less! Or maybe buy half new and half used if you cant find the right number used!

I think they’re fine. I mean, they’re not brown metal or anything. I’d rather spend my money elsewhere than on chair covers, personally.

I would buy the chair covers. You could rent them or buy them at a discount place online. I got chaircovers and am so happy I did! They looked fabulous and wonderful in the pictures as well.

I think they are pretty nice and if white is one of your colors I would keep them ‘as is’ – I’m sure you can find somewhere else to spend the money!
Disclaimer – we used chair covers even though I totally thought it was a waste but we had oooogly chairs to work with…it was worth it for us so I understand if you decide to get them. If it had been up to me we wouldn’t have gotten them but now-DH insisted. And he was right!

I would by them. You might be able to resell if they are in good shape afterward.

I would cover them. That is a relatively cheap price. I’m contemplating covering the chairs at our reception but it’s going to cost about $1,200 if I have the reception place do it. Otherwise, I’m going to have to find them on my own.

If covering them is not in your budget, then I would skip it. Really, no one will notice.

I have a weird thing about chair covers, they were the first things I thought of when I began thinking about getting married. So I would cover them, but I don’t think it will ruin your wedding or anything if you don’t!

I am totally, completely ANTI-chair cover. I just don’t like them. And those chairs are fine. Not beautiful, but plain white. They’ll blend in. If I were you, I’d put the money towards something else.

I think the chairs are fine. Save your money unless you really can’t stand them!

Thanks ladies.. I think I am leaning towards not covering them. Mainly because of the point that we COULD spend that money somewhere else.. or have less to pay off when we get back from our vacation. =:) We could use that money towards a nice dinner or two and/or a fun activity together!

It’s not in your budget, don’t cover them. If you end up with an extra few hundred dollars, it’d probably be much better spent on your honeymoon or a few date nights, or buying something off your registry. Those chairs aren’t distracting and they’ll just blend in! I think chair covers are actually way more distracting and weird looking than almost all chairs…
