So i’m in the 2ww (yet again!) usually I am very strick with myself, I haven’t had a drink at all since January because i’m so serious about doing everything i can to TTC. Well I’m sat here now waiting to leave for a weekend away with Darling Husband and he’s just got REALLY upset with me …
He misses going out for drinks together (it was a massive social thing for us before we started TTC) and doesn’t like how for 2 weeks every month I stress and obbsess over every little thing, I feel so torn, is it ok to go and have a blow out weekend or should I put him back in his box!!??
And FYI i’m only 3dpo!

I drank during the tww but that was because I didn’t know I was pregnant. I am sure I’m not the only person so I don’t think it matters that much.

I dont drink so i am biased but if you want a child i dont think sacrifing drinking alcohol is so hard. You can still go out with your partner and fun, drink mocktails or juice

The odd drink is FINE. Seriously.

I am in the “drink til it’s pink” school of thought.
But….. I guess I would ask what kind of drinking?
I mean are you going to binge drink until you vomit? slam jaeger shots? Play beer pong?
or are you going to have 2 glasses of wine or a couple martini’s over a two or three hour period somewhere without a lot of smoke? I think that’s fine. Just use your judgement. or talk to your doctor.

I’d like to think that i’d get away with the latter!! But the rest of our friends will be buying rounds of shots and desperatly trying to remember their last names by 10pm. Even the thought of a couple of drinks over a 5-6 hour period worries me, i guess i’ll have to be sneaky with the amount i’m actually drinking…

I’m in the “drink ’til it’s pink” club as well so I wouldn’t have any problem having a few drinks during my TWW.
Plus – it is my understanding that you aren’t sharing anything with the baby that early in the pregnancy anyways.

i drank up until i got the positive pregnancy test, as did my friend who now has a healthy 10 month old. you can’t put your life on hold, at least in my opinion.

I had 2 glasses of sangria during the TWW a few weeks ago. Frankly it was the best sangria I ever tasted! I actually think we made the baby that very afternoon (maybe 3 hours before we went out?) so it probably didn’t matter anyway. I’m pretty sure I had a glass of wine a week later also. I think you shouldn’t put your life on hold and you should have fun with your Darling Husband.

we were not trying to concieve and i was 8 weeks pregnant before I found out that I was….. and I had been drinking that whole time. Of course I stopped when I found out, but my now 16 month old is healthy as can be! 🙂

Have a drink, it may be your last for 9+ months. However, I wouldn’t get drunk. Just have a few until you actually see the BFP.

We were on our honeymoon at an all inclusive resort the week before I found out that I was pregnant. Needless to say, I had a lot of alcohol. I asked my doctor at my first appointment, and she said that I had nothing to worry about.

They say a small glass of red wine is healthy for a woman to drink while pregnant, which you don’t even know if you are or not. I’m in the drink til’ it’s pink club, though.

I can see where your Darling Husband is coming from. Darling Husband and I used to love trying new beers or having a couple drinks while out at dinner. Last year, he randomly decided to stop drinking and it’s been a difficult adjustment for me! I feel like he took away this really fun thing that we enjoyed – it’s no fun drinking alone.
Anyway, I continued to drink (alone! lol) during the TWW. I had a cocktail and several beers the weekend before I got my BFP. So have a drink with your DH! I wouldn’t go and get drunk but a few drinks shouldn’t hurt anything.

I’m in “drink till it’s pink” club. When we first started TTC, I was pretty diligent about not drinking during the TWW, but now that we’re on Month 16/Cycle 17 and it’s taking waaaaaaay longer than we imagined, I’ve relaxed on a few points. I wouldn’t advise getting wasted, but a few drinks in the TWW won’t hurt.
I love nothing more than unwinding from a busy or stressful day by spending part of the evening on the couch with a glass of wine and my DH!
