BG: a few days ago I called the reception venue to find out if they provided the linens or if I needed to rent them. The very nice lady told me they provided table covers. The plastic kind with fuzzy backing (yes, All I can picture are the red and white ones found on picnic tables.) I giggled and asked her if I could bring my own, she sid yes.
Present: I e-mailed of my friends and told her about the conversation. She said, “heck, when we are done eating we can take them out back and use them as a slip-n-slide.” I told her that would not work since my dress would retain all the water. Her response was, “then we will just hose you down first.” Sadly, that brought back a few college memories and that got my wheels turning.
What if… we rented a dunk tank! we could sell chances like raffle tickets($1 a chance or 6 for $5 and No Dollar dance) and then at the END of the night draw 3 number from each bucket (bride bucket, groom bucket) and those 3 people got the opportunity to try and dunk us, Tuxedo or Wedding Dress and all. I mean, what could it hurt? It’s the end of the night and pictures (for the most part would be done).

The pictures for that would be hilarious! A trash the dress built into the wedding. Overall, how formal is your wedding? I can’t see this working in a fancy ballroom setting but a fun backyard wedding would be great.

OH, I guess it would help to tell you the reception is at a Fire Hall. not overly formal at all, but not Backyard BBQ either.
I was even thinking of hitting a resale shop to see if I could find a dress similar to mine to get dunked in so I didn’t have to dunk mine! BUT, yes — a trash the dress built into the day.

I think it has cute potencial…”Taking the Plunge” to a whole new level.

Are you renting the tuxes?

I LOVE the idea!
When I first read your post I was thinking who would want to get dunked but when I realized that you and your groom would be dunked at the end of the night I LOVED the idea!
The only part I don’t really like is that you would be selling the raffle tickets – it makes it kinda fundraisey to me! Could you incorporate games into winning the raffle tickets. For example 1st person to get out on the dance floor gets a ticket, the table who can make up the best dance wins raffle tickets etc.?

@amaryllis– yes renting tuxedos.
@future mrs. martin – not really sure what logistics we would actually use for raffle tickets. My other thought was just put one on each escourt card (one for bride/one for groom 2 different colors) and then have the bukets set up for each person to drop on in if they wanted to participate.

That idea made me chuckle a bit, so I vote yes! It would totally make for an awesome end of the nice Trash the Dress session. And I am all about you calling it “Taking the Plunge” 🙂 If you do it, you totally need to share pictures!

I LOVE this idea- you are so awesome! Anything to make things more fun at a wedding is a plus in my book 😉

The only thing I am not sure about is charging people (?) for anything at a wedding… but I love it otherwise!

I agree, maybe we shouldn’t selll tickets, but give them away during silly games or at the start of the envening.
maybe have each table sing for tickets. Songs must have “love” in the lyrics.

That definitely puts a new twist on the “trash the dress” fad. 🙂 Go for it! Also, I say you hold some kind of contest to see how gets to dunk you. Maybe whoever catches the bouquet and garter, or whoever’s the best dancer…
