I have always wanted a wedding but through the process and costs almost ended up eloping due to the stress and expectations of others

Hey, you can still get gorgeous photos if you elope! I think it’s more up to what makes everyone happy. If the family isn’t offended or hurt, it sounds like you two are leaning toward elopement. Planning from afar can be easier if family’s local, so if you do have a shindig, don’t worry so hard. If it were me, I would have one, but be really, really chill about it, because all that matters is getting married (and not being rude to guests, natch), so everything else is gravy.

Minimums of what? You can have a small intimate wedding of 25 for sure. my friend recently got married and they had about 34 people all together including the bride and groom. It was wonderful. I don’t think you need to have a minimum of 40 guests for catering or venue I think they have expectations of purchase minimums ?

We went from planning for 150+ to 15 to 50! I think 15 was as close as we got to eloping… But we decided to do a small, luncheon wedding ($1500 for 50 people– the luncheon banquet was LESS THAN HALF of what the dinner banquet cost!), then go dancing at a club that night! Then we took the rest of our 5k budget and put it towards the AWESOME honeymoon!

Elope or go with a nice, small intimate wedding.
