My Beautiful Bees….please help us decide 🙂
We can’t decide if we want to have gray or black tuxedos for our evening august wedding. It’s rather formal and so is my dress. My colors and theme are gunmetal/pewter, white ostrich feathers, antique bling and hints of purple still iffy on the purple….still looking for some better accent colors/ideas to bring the color pallette to life…any suggestions are welcome!).
My fiance loves this gray tuxedo he found (see pic below) and really wants to wear it and have the groomsmen wear black so that he stands out.
Now my question is three-fold:
1. Will he look too informal in a gray tux next to me in my white wedding dress?
2. Will it look crazy for him to wear gray and everyone else in black?
3. Would it be too much gray if EVERYONE wore the gray tuxedo including my fiance? So gray bridesmaid dresses and gray tuxedos?
I am really torn and we need to make a decision soon. If you have any pics of gray weddings or gray groomsmen please post them!!
Take the Poll and let me know what you think we should do 🙂
Here is a pic of the exact tuxedo he likes. As well as a pic of the bridesmaid dresses.

I think since the grey in some of your bridesmaid dresses is a lot lighter of a grey you would be ok with all grey since their dresses will break up the monotony.
ETA: SInce you clarified in your other post that most of the girls will be wearing the dark grey then I would go with the black. It would be to monochromatic otherwise.

Black tuxedos for the men. I think you need a bit of contrast and that it will look sharp.

I like the grey suit, but it’s not a tuxedo.

Black tuxes are just sooo sharp!!! I especially love bow ties too.
I think that would be a good contrast with gray Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses.

@SpecialSundae I think the gray one is a tux- it has silk lapels and the sleeves are shorter.

If it is a formal wedding I wonder if the groomsmen will blend in with other tuxedoed guests or waitstaff. I like the look of the grey-it feels more modern and special.

That is a gorgeous suit!! Where did he find it? I love how dark the grey is… still very dressy.

Must just be an issue with my screen res. Sorry, it’s a pet peeve.

Grey is a daytime color in menswear, I’d do black for an evening wedding.

It’s a steel gray Twilight Tuxedo by Jean Yves.

I just realized I didn’t answer your question directly. The grey is fabulous and, I think, Plenty formal for an evening wedding. I don’t buy into the “only black for an evening wedding,” thing.

Uhh…no…it’s a Tuxedo. There is a suit version that does not have the satin on the lapel or on the pants.

@Damari: Sorry, it must have been the screen res at work. I think the groom in grey with the rest in black would look great.
