I was hoping to get some advice about shoes. I’ve always seen myself in yellow shoes for my wedding. It’s been my dream and I’ve found a few that I like a lot.
BUT… my fiance has very generously offered to buy me these gold Christian Louboutins.
You’re probably wondering, why is this even a question? Here’s the thing… we’ve been on such a tight budget and these shoes are $845. (That’s as much as my dress!) I don’t feel right accepting such an extravagant pair of shoes when we’ve been working so hard to do everything else on a budget. Plus with our parents’ financial situation, I feel like it would be really disrepectful to them to spend all this money on 1 pair of shoes. I’ve already told my fiance multiple times that they’re too expensive and he shouldn’t buy them but he insists.
What do you ladies think? Should I just shut up and accept the shoes (even if they’re not what I originally thought I wanted) or stick with the plan and pick one of much more affordable the yellow shoes? Which one is your favorite? How much did you spend on your shoes?
Thank you ladies~

I’m a shoe lover and owner of several pairs of Loubies, but I wouldn’t have purchased them if I couldn’t afford them or was on a tight budget. They are beautiful shoes and it’s likely that you will get a lot of use out of them, not just on your wedding day, but if you’re very budget conscious, I’d probably skip them right this second and maybe hint that you would appreciate them as a gift later on when the two of you have a little more financial wiggle room.

Stick with the yellow shoes.. if he really wants to spend that money, maybe suggest some other area of your wedding to use it on? It’s great that he wants to gift you so extravagantly, but putting that aside, you said it’s your dream to wear yellow shoes for your wedding, so why go against that?

@honeyhalo: Even if I was rich, I wouldn’t waste a grand on shoes. I think that’s absolutely insane. Think of the extra excursions you could do on your honeymoon, or the extra payments on the mortgage. If you had been dreaming of these shoes, then maybe. But you didn’t even want them and seem happy with the other, cheaper options.
You mentioned you’re on a budget, so why blow it on shoes of all things? You never know when hard financial times will set up, and you need to make sure you and FI are on the same page RE lavish spending. What if he wanted to spend a grand on a video game console? I would have a heart attack if FI suggested this to me.

@honeyhalo: I like the yellow shoes best, honestly. My BF wants to get me some LBs or JCs, but I truly cannot stomach the price-tag. I can think of a million other things to spend $845 on!

dont do it unless you can see yourself wearing them a lot! since they are gold you are going to be limited to outfits, if they were black pumps i’d say go for it because those are more versatile. Plus yellow (which is my fav color) shoes would be fabulous!!! 🙂

I wouldn’t accept the shoes, especially since after the wedding, it’ll be half your money that was spent on them. I love luxury products, but only when you can afford them and the cost-per-wear checks out. If you were buying a more practical pair like the Pigalle 100mm, then I’d say you’d wear them all the time and it’s a smart buy. The get your CPW out of any sparkly open toe shoe is going to be a challenge, so if finances are a concern, skip them.

Only go for the shoes if it doesn’t also mean going for broke. He will have a whole marriage to get you some red soles!

@badabing88: Yes, they’re so expensive and to only wear them for 5 hours just doesn’t make sense to me. With the money he would spend on one pair of CB, I could buy all 3 pairs of yellow shoes and still have $650 left over~!

Thank you ladies for your advice! Now I just have to convince my fiance that I REALLY don’t want them… haha
Which of the 3 yellow ones do you like the best?

@honeyhalo: I was going to say, tell him it is very sweet but you want the yellow ones and you can’t bear for him to spend that money now. Maybe they would make a great 1st anniversary gift instead! 😉 … just seen your update… I love the third ones the best.

@honeyhalo: See, now you’re thinking like me 😉 It’s nice to have nice things from time to time, but in this case I feel it makes more sense to allocate that money to something a little more practical 🙂

i find louboutins really uncomfortable. as beautiful as they are, they’re definitely not made for comfort. i wouldn’t wear them on my wedding day, as much as i wish i had a pair.
as for the three yellow shoes, i love the last ones. i like the flower on the front (:

I would accept the offer but ask for black ones that I could wear more often, ahaha!
But for the wedding day, on a tight budget, naah. Stick to the yellow ones.

I could be wrong, but that looks like the Louboutin Gold Glitter No Prive pump…it’s a classic! You can wear it long after your wedding, parties with the ladies, nice dinners with your hubby etc. and they go with anything (I consider gold a neutral). Just make that your go-to going out shoe for the next year or so and maybe that will make you feel better about the cost! You’re such a lucky lady 🙂
