Ok bees I know this is going to sound super “why are you asking us this” but I really just can’t decide and I need someone to make up my mind for me!! (DH is being no help – he’s in a fantasy baseball draft right now.)
Ok so Darling Husband and I are buying our dream bedroom set from Pottery Barn – the Hudson. We’re getting a king bed and two nightstands (the cheaper, smaller ones) and the extra wide dresser. (Don’t even get me started on how I debated back and forth over whether to get the dresser or chiffarobe. A dresser seems more practical though for the long haul over having just an armoire – or “chiffarobe.”)
Ok so now it comes down to this: to mirror or not to mirror? The dresser obviously comes with a matching mirror and I’m unsure whether to buy it. Money isn’t so much a factor because the mirror isn’t largely expensive, but I just don’t know whether it’s worth it. The mirror would be more decoration than anything practical since we have ample mirrors in our bathroom. A plus would be that I could look at myself in the mirror in bed haha.
FWIW: The bedroom in our new apartment is tiny. Like, tiny. We’ll have just enough room to fit this furniture. We’re ok with that because we’re using wedding money to make this investment for the future (being homeowners someday with a larger MBR) but I’m wondering if a mirror would make the room look larger or smaller? Those are factors.

It’ll help it look bigger for sure. I say go for it too.

I say go for it as well, partially because in a future space you might really regret it if you don’t have it. I am a big proponent of purchasing matching items I *might* want in the future just to cover my bases.

I’d go for it…mirror would give the impression of a bigger room.

Ahh ok, ok I’m convinced. Mirror it is.. Now I just have to get DH’s head out of his draft!

mirrors make a room look bigger and give off more light. definitely get the mirror–you will especially want it in a bigger room!

lol, I highly recommend a mirror across from your bed. FUN!

I’d say get a mirror but DIY instead. Reason being – if you get that mirror that is pictured it is going to look really matchy matchy and also dark (if your other dresser is also a dark color) I would buy a big mirror (not necessarily from PB) and paint it a different color. Then it will make the room look bigger and add some color and interest to the room.

Thank you all so much for your responses!

The mirror will help the space look larger.

I like the idea of a mirror, but I’m not a huge fan on matching sets so I voted no. There are so many cool options out there when it comes to mirrors, you can totally mix it up!

I agree with @moderndaisy: and @PitBulLover: about a different mirror. I personally wouldn’t put a mirror across from the bed because that’s where we have our TV.
However if you have a different layout that allows for a mirror above the dresser, go for a mirror that doesn’t match the entire bedroom set. When the whole bedroom is one matching set it tends to look overwhelming and gets dated quickly.

Yep, I’m with those that say go with a different mirror, I’m just not a fan of matchy matchy sets…
