I can’t regift things with my name or initial on them, and I regift most gifts.

Nope.  Inhibits my ability to regift and then it ends up in the Goodwill pile instead.

Unless you are giving me some cherished long sought after item you know I will treasure for the ages, don’t personalize things.  I don’t like walking around advertising my name on things and generic items you could literally give to any woman on the planet and have a good chance it would be used (water bottle, travel case, tote, compact, bathrobe) really isn’t any less generic or any more special with my name stamped on it – just harder to give away.

I prefer not personalized. I know it’s sometimes regional (I heard monogramming stuff is more popular in the south?) but my impression is that names on stuff is for little girls. I rarely see adults with personalized stuff and don’t own any myself.

I do think that compact mirror is really pretty!

I don’t wear anything with a monogram or my name but wouldn’t mind something like a compact having a simple initial. For a makeup case or jewelry roll I’d rather go with an attractive pattern.

I wouldn’t give away something from a dear friend meant to express sentiment anytime soon, so that wouldn’t come into it.

Monograming is extremely popular in the south but I personally do not like it except for certain items. I think in some cases it looks childish. I’d rather have a nice pattern over a solid color w a monogram.

I agree with the posters above… Most things with my name on them i dont think i would use, but that compact you pictured is beautiful and i wouldnt mind with my initial!

samael :  I love personalized stuff! But thats just me. I like the small C on the mirror- not in your face!

I wouldn’t mind my momogram on a jewelry roll or a makeup bag, but my preference is for it to be subtle – ie, a green jewelry roll with a darker greeen/lighter green monogram.  So, monochromatic ands small.

I don’t like it when things have my name on it – it feels childish to me.  nd I concur with the fact that a monogram or other personalization prevents regifting, which means something may wind up in the goodwill bin instead.

Something like a compact or a flash, I wouldn’t like a monogram at all, I’d prefer it to be blank.

I like gifts that have my first initial “C”, such as necklaces, makeup bag etc. Are these gifts for your bridesmaids? I am considering getting my bridesmaids ring holder dishes with their first initial on them, but a lot of my bridesmaids have personalized things already (most wear initial necklaces) so I know they would like them. With that said, if I didn’t know this, after reading this forum, I would steer clear of anything personalized!

While I like personalized items, I am extremely picky about which items, so that is something I would much rather purchase for myself, rather than recieve as a gift.

I hate personalized things.  If you choose to go this route, I’d suggest just the first initial or a monogram.  The full name looks so juvenile to me.

samael :  I feel like this is regional. We southern ladies love a good monogram or personalization!!
