- Wedding: July 2012
Ugh, I am freaking out ladies! I’m getting married at a farm about 3 hours from where most of my guests live, so lodging is IMPORTANT. Well, some of the houses we were promised as exclusively available to us have been rented out! The big farm that would fit the wedding party (25 adults, 6 kids) isn’t available, nor are the two biggest houses. This accounts for where all of the VIPs were staying, almost half of our expected attendance! Half of the boutique hotel has been rented by God-knows-who, which leaves small scattered houses, crappy B&Bs. and a big country club that is expensive and boring. There’s probably enough housing for everyone, but we’ll be more scattered and in less nice places.
The wedding is six months away and I was just about to print and send the Save-The-Date Cards (late, I know), but most of our friends and family are already planning on the date. My Fiance wants to consider not doing it there at all since he doesn’t trust the housing, but I was thinking maybe we should see if we can move it to 9/8, which is still available and one of the dates we were originally considering. It might be chilly then (it’s in the mountains) and I hate chilly, plus EVERYONE already knows and is planning for the date. BUT the hotel is completely open, the huge farm might be available, and one of the big farm houses would be back in play.
Is it crazy to change the date this far into the plan? Will I lose a lot of attendees, or will they prefer it moved out of the summer? Is it worth it to give up the summer wedding I always wanted? Wah, I’m sooooooo sad right now.
