Round is classic and never goes out of style.

Both rings look great on you but if I had to choose one, I’d pick the princess cut! Round Brilliant stones are pretty and classic, but the princess cut has style! It looks so chic and modern on your finger.

Round, I don’t really like the sharp edges or splintery look of a princess

Round or cushion. I feel princess cuts go in and out of style (very 90s)

It’s funny, I never realized princess cuts were dated until I read these boards and a couple other random wedding articles. Interestingly, I grew up in the 80’s/90’s. Maybe that’s why I like them. But I’ve always thought they had a classic kind of look about them, a certain simplicity not unlike a round, and I like the crisp look of the square shape and sharp corners.

Sometimes I think it just comes down to how a cut looks with the shape and size of your finger. For me, for various reasons, I don’t think round would look right on me.

If you love both, OP, I don’t think you can go wrong with either! I wouldn’t pay attention to trends either way – the question is, what will YOU love for the rest of your life?

bee1014 :  I say princess as they are my favourite and that’s what I have but my advice would be just go with your initial gut feeling. Maybe also think about what style of wedding band you plan to pair with it, that might help when looking at them on your finger. It’s tough, both are beautiful

I’m obviously partial as I have a princess cut myself. I prefer them slightly but both are lovely and classic, and both look great on you!

The round looks better on your hand

I voted round.  I think the princess will look out dated in a few years.

I just got a round with four prongs, it looks square from far and I’m obssessed with it! I really wanted cushion but it was too expensive so this was definitely the way to go for me, plus round is timeless.

I have a round solitaire in four prongs.  I love how timeless it is.  With that said I don’t think you can go wrong with round or princess.  Both are beautiful.

Get whichever you prefer, but I will say this…

IF you choose princess, please please PLEASE get V-shaped prongs to protect the corners.  They are very prone to chipping.

But based on the photos, I think the round looks better on your hand.

bee1014 :  If snagging bothers you, the princess cut (with prongs) is NOT a great option.  The only exception would be to have it bezeled — zero snag for any shape.  If bezels don’t appeal to you, then round is the way to go.  Just make sure the prongs are nicely shaped and polished for no snags whatsoever.
