@dannielle89:  buy what you want but keep in mind that it will need to fit in another space next year (hopefully) – so dont buy anything MASSIVE or oddly shaped.

could you soothe the decorating itch by buying new cushions/throws and curtains? all these can change the look of an entire room without having to pay out for new furniture. worth a thought.xx

Take a look at decorating blogs for cheap ideas to rework your current furniture.  I too didn’t like the decor in our condo (some from 2001!), and we were looking for a home, but I didn’t want to spend money on anything that might not be reused well in the new home.  For example, I wanted a new rug, but that is so dependent on the space so I held off.  I didn’t buy, but contemplated cheap fixes: new curtains, new bright pillows, and adding color pops to our lampshades.  You might also try repainting or restaining your furniture to get a different look, or redoing the seat cushions on chairs, etc.
