I don’t think I could bring myself to sell mine, even though, like you, I’m not planning on doing anything with it except cleaning and preserving it. Just too sentimental.

I am not selling mine.  It just means to much to me.  I came from a family where I never even saw my parent’s wedding pictures, let alone a dress.  I would like to keep it around… I might wear it for an anniversay someday or have it made into something, maybe keep it to show my kids…

I don’t plan to sell my dress because I am buying an offbeat dress and will wear it many more times but if I were in your situation I would totally sell my dress. There is no point owning something you will never use again no matter how sentimental.

I will find some way to give my dress more use.  Six women made that dress.  It shouldn’t sit in a box in the corner of the closet…that seems almost wasteful to me.

What’s more, I don’t feel my memories are tied to objects.  I’m a visual, not tactile person.  Pictures hold memories (and to some extent, songs hold memories).  The dress is a dress.

A friend who is a professional photog told me that she is always looking to rent dresses for inspiration shoots.  If you are a sentimental person and want to keep the dress, that might be a way to let your dress to be useful beyond the wedding day.

I would love to sell mine, but after Darling Husband took it off me, it went back in the bag and left at my parents house. I know I got some purple on it from holding a center piece and the bustle has been ripped. So I guess I’d have to get it cleaned and repaired first… If anything I would keep my veil, but that would probably be easier to sell.

Sorry to thredjack, but if anyone has any advice, please inbox me.
