Hi Bees So I just had my wonderful wedding and of course I adored my dress from start to finish. However, now I am at that stage where I need to decide if I want to sell my dress or keep it. I know there are other options like recycling the material or donating it to charity, but I am just curious what you all would do. On one hand I know that realistically if I ever have a daughter it is unlikely that she would wear it….but then again if we had had my grandmother’s dress still I would have willingly worn hers. For reference I attached a couple of pics

I think this is totally a personal choice. each one of the poll questions I could easliy pick.. Keep it because you never know what furtue generations are going to like.. donate it becauseit a nice gesture, reinvent it because that way you can always have it and it doesn’t have to get stuffy in the closet you can wear it whenever you want…..
ps beautiful wedding, beautitful dress

I voted sell, but only because if you weren’t seriously considering it, it wouldn’t be an option. Sell it, and do something charitable with some or all of the money, if you’d like… or use the cash for an heirloom piece of jewelry you can pass down, or something for your house. It’s a fabulous dress!

oooooOOOooooo!!! Did you carry a brooch bouquet?!
Sorry…off topic! I’m stumped right now what to do with my dress. I am 99% sure I won’t be having a daughter to give it to. I like the idea of donating the dress. However, I also like the idea of getting some money back on an item of clothing I will only be wearing for 12 hours.

@Birdie Love: Yeppers I did carry a brooch bouquet I made it myself:-)

My idea was to have it made into a baptism gown for my future children.

I didn’t vote because there isn’t an other. If I were you, I would either sell it or take it apart and make a comforter out of it.

I don’t know how much you invested in this dress, or how badly you need the money, but if you aren’t in need of the money and you’re looking to give your gown a beautiful second life I vote donate it.
There’s so many wonderful programs that give wedding gowns to brides who can’t afford to have the day they always wanted.

My grandmother has a closet where good dresses go to die. In there lies the dresses from every important event in her children and grandchildren’s lives, and while it is fun every 6-10 years to try on the dresses, they are honestly just waisting space. I would much rather take the money you recuperated to go on a vacation and make great memories with your new husband. But…I am not the type of person to attach sentiment to clothing.

Wow, I never even thought about donating my dress! I like this idea 🙂 If I do decide to sell my dress, I think I will put it on the market for a month or so… and if I have no luck, just donate it! 🙂

SELL! If I ever have a daughter I doubt she’d want to wear it (she can always have it recreated ;). I just sold it this weekend.

I plan to try to sell mine. I guess it depends how attached you are to your dress!

I plan to sell mine. No point in keeping it, I doubt my daughter would want to wear my dress anyways.

I’m going to keep mine, but it wasn’t very expensive so I wouldn’t be selling it for that much anyway. I’m too sentimental. Maybe my daughter will somehow like it 🙂

I would try to sell mine if i can, but i think itll be hard because I am pretty short and my dress was altered to fit me…It would probably sell but for a lot less than I paid…but if my dress can make another bride happy on her big day, then i’ll feel prety happy about it too i guess!
