I think the neckline looks great as is however without the strap sweetheart would look nice. I think a really lightweight bolero might be your best bet. Do you have to cover up in church? It seems very appropriate already.

@Nikki1212:  I feel like it’d be a “little extra something” to that dress if you did the sweetheart, which is already gorgeous, but I am a sucker for sweetheart necklines. I think it’s fine either way, though =]

I think with the sleeve it’ll be hard to find a bolero to wear… but I think you should sweetheart it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Your figure looks great in that dress, and I adore that supper fluffy shoulder strap! I think it looks fine as is, and I say NO to the sweetheart neckline because I think it’ll look weird. [I’m really visual, btw, so be prepared for pictoral examples].

Sweetheart looks good w/thin floral straps:         But wonky with fluffier:

I think this is because the fluffy strap is supposed to draw the eye, and a sweetheart bust is supposed to draw the eye. Since they’re right next to each other, they are competing for ~the eyes~ and it just ends up looking like one needs leave. Sort of like how you aren’t supposed to wear heavy eye makeup and with a bold lip (unless you know what you’re doing): typically there’s just too much going on.

Stunning burlesque makeup:                      Um… (*and I adore Leighton)

As for the church cover-up, you could:

    • get something like this so there’s organza flowers everywhere!

    • purchase a thicker jacket to keep you warm

    • or…simply wear a lace, organza, cozy fabric, or similar jacket/bolero

I think you should leave it. As PP picture illustrates, the strap would be too close to the curve of the sweetheart, so it will look a little off.

I love your dress as is.  No bolero no sweetheart.

@Nikki1212:  You’re welcome (and I really hope Leighton fired that makeup artist!).

If you have your heart set on a sweetheart, then you should go for it. As you said, you won’t be wearing the strap for the formal morning photos, and the sweetheart would look lovely with your gown (even though it still looks great now, as well). Remeber it is your wedding and your look, so if you want to go with something different than the majority, you are completely free to do so as long as yo love the results! ๐Ÿ˜€

Also, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with adding a bolero for church, especially since you’ll be warmer in the church (England in late autumn can get COLD–or at least I was), and it allows you to change up your look without ever having to change out of your dress.

As for the jackets you’re considering, 1, 2, 4, 6, and 7 would all look great. I don’t think 3 works because the color looks really purple (although it might be my screen), and 5 doesn’t work because it looks neon (so it’d look like an unsuccessful attempt to match your bridemaids).

And I love that you aren’t shying away from colors or textures. Whatever you decide, I’m sure it’ll look fabulous. ๐Ÿ™‚ And we’re here to help you out if you need any more advice, support, etc!
