I’m white. Really very white. My makeup is the second lightest they sell in the whole range.
I’m usually very anti sun. I don’t want to look like a leather purse when I’m older, and skin cancer scares me. BUT I keep getting asked, and I’m wondering if I should pop into a Tanning Salon for a few minutes to get some kind of color before the wedding. Don’t flame me! I’m very careful day to day. I guess my question is it’s not likely to hurt me in the long run right? Also, we’re honeymooning in Cartagena Colombia for 7 days directly after the wedding and I don’t want to get burned, so in my “everything can be justified” mind I’m thinking I can get a base. Thoughts?
Oh – and self tanner and spray on tans aren’t an option. I don’t trust they won’t smear, streak or stain. The options are a little bit of color or looking like my usual pale self.

The concept of the “base tan” to prevent sunburn on your honeymoon is a total myth.
I am not for or against tanning in your case, but I do want to ask what your motivation is — I know on my wedding day I hope to look like the most beautiful version of myself. If you’re that pale all the time and never tan, will you even look like you? Is that what you want to see in your pictures forevermore?

you can burn and turn bright red. Who says pasty isn’t beautiful. I say no.

There are spray tans that don’t streak or run – I got one for prom and it looked amazing.

I am just like you…I wear spf 15 every day…and really take care of my skin…BUT I am pale as HELL right now and dont want to look that way on my wedding day…so I am going to start to go about once a week starting soon for my april wedding…I am also honeymooning right afterwards in Antigua…so I want at least some exposure before I go! So I am totally with you on this one.

i will be tanning a little bit based on my own personal preference.
have you tried spray on tans? they’re actually really good. maybe you could get one now to see how it is?

I’ve been wondering this too. I look super pale in pictures especially and I have a tan line on my arm that really irritates me. I’m hoping just a few sessions of tanning will fix that but I’ve never done it before and it kind of freaks me out.
Also, I don’t want to have to buy all new makeup if I’m darker. I’m still undecided.

Oh yeah I forgot to put that, A total myth I’m amazed how many people believe that.
You could also try various spray tans before and figure which one works for you.

I rock the pale skin myself and I don’t plan on tanning before my wedding. I can turn a lovely shade of red then back to stark white. I’ve tried the tanning before a topical vacation and honestly, I still ended up getting burnt because I’m just not meant to be in the sun. Its all about sunscreen and staying in the shade when you aren’t used to the sun.

Personally I plan on tanning a few times before my wedding. I like you am pale as a ghost. I want some color to least look like I am alive. And by the way my foundation is the lightest you can go.

I am super pale, to the point of using the “translucent” color powers for makeup!
My wedding isn’t until october, but there are areas of my skin that I am self conscious about. So, I’m going to go and do a few test tans, for like a minute, just to see if it’ll take away some of my problem areas.
If I don’t like it, I won’t continue.
Also, I went to hawaii one year without tanning, I used an SPF 60 sunscreen and came home without a tan, no one believed I had gone to Hawaii except for the fact that my scalp burned.
I suggest doing a test run, if you like it, continue, if you don’t, stop!

Yeah. The shade is my friend! That’s kind of the problem though. Day to day it doesn’t bother me, but in photos my Fiance and I look like two big flashes of light! I don’t think I’d have to change makeup….I just want some color. The spray tans bother me because they clog your pores and will rub off. I mean that stuff goes somewhere –
I did have good luck with the Jergen’s lotions…the ones that gradually make you darker, but even those tend to rub off a bit on thes sheets. I may give it another go.

You have a month! Try a spray tan now and see how it looks. I will not be happy with you tanning. And for what it’s worth, I really like your face. 🙂

You dont need a base tan – just wear enough SPF and reapply reapply reapply and youll be fine! Neither Darling Husband nor I burned while on our honeymoon in Jamaica and laying out or in the pool or ocean all day long!

I’m also super pale, but I’ve decided that I’m going to rock my natural look. Any time I see pics of celebs that are bronzed to the max, I just remember how gorgeous Nicole Kidman looks with her near-translucent skin. She glows and it’s beautiful! 😀
