I’ve heard to figure about a 1/2 lb. of candy for each wedding guest. As far as lollies go, it would depend on the size of the lollipop and the guests themselves. I’d say no more than one per person (maybe even less if they’re the huge kind) unless they’re really small.

@lisha_1988:  I would say that the amount probably does change if you don’t have many children at the wedding. I don’t think everybody goes for the candy buffet. Some adults will go up but I think it is mainly children and younger adults/ones that aren’t afraid to act like kids haha.

We are doing a candy buffet as well. We have about 3-400 guests but we will not order that much candy as my sister got married with the same amount of guests and didn’t have a lot of candy. I think this could also be cause we are getting married in Greece and the people in Greece aren’t really used to the idea of a candy buffett.

It may help to order the little baggies or whatever you are choosing to have fo the guests to put their candy in and see how much candy you can fit in those. I think most people will only fill a quarter or half of a baggie up anyway…

I had a candy buffet that I did myself.  We did not have kids and I do not think that really would have changed the amount.  There was not one piece of candy left about 20 minutes after we opened it up to guests.  We had 200 guests and I had about 100 lbs of candy.  I probably could have had 200 lbs and it all would have gone!
