We did not have a DJ and we did not tip the photographer because he owned his own company.

StayHumblee :  we tipped the DJ because it’s the norm. We didn’t tip the photographer because she owned her own business.

StayHumblee :  we didn’t tip anyone that owned their own business and our catering contract specifically stated we weren’t allowed to tip bartenders and waitstaff. We tipped the band only because they gave us a friends and family discount so they were still WAY cheaper than we normally would have paid. Transport drivers also got tips.

Our DJ and Photographers were the owners of their businesses so we did not tip them.

I would consider tipping the maitre ‘d. I tipped all of our wait staff.

I only hired small business owners so they set the price they feel they deserve. Except for the caterer and the contract already includes gratuity.  I won’t be tipping any of them. My parents might tip the DJ if he plays enough Michael Jackson for my mom.

StayHumblee :  I’ve heard you don’t tip anyone who own theirs own business, but I still tipped both my photographer and caterers (both the business owners.) I maybe didn’t tip as much because the owned the business, but I still gave each an envelop with cash. It’s probably not necessary, but they both did a great job and I just think if you’re unsure about tipping you should just do it. It’s the nice thing to do.

The florist and her team that will be coming to set up on my big day – should I tip her/them? It is actually the floral department of a grocery store.

ETA: Also, our DJ will only be running sound for us. What would be the ballpark figure on his tip?

Maybe I should start my own thread! Sorry for hijacking!!
