Welcome to the Hive! 🙂

First, we opted not to do either toss.  As a wedding guest, I always felt uncomfortable when people pushed me up to the dance floor for the toss.  I didn’t want any of my guests to have that awkward feeling, so we opted not to do it.  Plus, I didn’t like the idea of DH getting anything from up my dress while my grandmother sat a table away…

As for the countdown – if you can do sparklers at midnight, that could be fun.  But other than that, I have no unique ideas!

@KatiePi:  we will be doing a bouquet and garter toss! Don’t have our songs chosen yet, but I will say that I think it’s a harmless and cute tradition that we’re looking forward to.

single ladies, and since I am a teacher (and like 2/3 of our friends) my fiance will be taking the garter off

We did not do a garter toss. I tossed my bouquet outside, right before we got into our limo.

My venue doesn’t allow sparklers so we’re doing a bubble picture. We are doing a garter (I’m Too Sexy by Right Said Fred) and bouquet (Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cindi Lauper) toss. It’s a pretty formal, traditional wedding, but we are throwing in a few fun things like this.

We aren’t doing either because FI hates attention, and we’re older so most of our friends and family are already married.

I always actively avoided the bouquet toss when I was single, and we had approximately three single people at our wedding.  (I am not exaggerating.)  While I never would have seriously considered doing a bouquet toss anyway, the guest list would have made it logistically impossible.

I have never, ever attended a wedding with a garter toss so it did not even cross my mind to consider.  I would not have been comfortable with doing that, though.

We did the bouquet toss but no garter toss. I always flinch when I see a groom go under his brides dress in front of grandparents…
