Bees…I know absolutely nothing about fashion and am asking for your assistance should you be willing. Our engagement shoot is coming up in a few weeks and the planner in me is working on my outfit. I am so worried about wearing something stupid looking or the wrong type/style/pattern/material/shape/size ….you get the picture. Could I ask you for your advice/opinion on the outfit I am planning on. I own all these and really didn’t want to go shopping (I freaking hate shopping) but will if I am so far gone…LOL
Here is my coat ↓

Here are the pants ↓
Here are my boots ↓

I don’t have a clue what type of top I should wear so any help would be appreciated. Fiance will be wearing 3/4 length leather coat, dark jeans, casual shoes and a shirt to coordinate with my outfit. Anything else you could suggest would be great. Thanks Bees!

I would go with a black or dark grey top. I personally don’t like the boots and coat together. But, that’s just me.

Looks nice to me, and I love the boots. I would pair with a nutral top, though with the coat it doesn’t look like you’ll see much of it anyway.

Thank you ladies for your suggestions. The coat won’t be buttoned up the entire time and I am sure I will even take it off at some point during the shoot. The biggest thing I was concerned about was the clash of the patterns on the coat and boots and then weather blue jeans would go with the red and black or should I do a skirt?
You have helped lots and if you have more suggestions, please share them.

I really like the coat but I don’t think the coat and shoes go together.

Soon2bBarker: Yeah, I don’t care for the boots and coat together. The colours look a bit too matchy-matchy but then the patterns/styles just don’t mesh. I’d go with a solid colour boot or coat. Jeans, I think, could work, but maybe not the ones you posted…I’d go with a darker wash skinny jean. The ones you posted look a bit too casual compared to the other pieces.

applecat: I agree for sure… I do really like the coat. Maybe you could do the coat with some black leather riding boots, or black booties. Maybe you could do a cream or black coloured knit top with some dark skinnies underneath that coat.

Love the coat. The boots look very outdated to me. I would also do a darker wash jean if you have any, and bootcut rather than the flare and def. no fade wash on the thighs. Pair the coat and darker jeans with black boots.

Ladies..thank you all for your suggestions. I do have a taller pair of black leather riding crop boots, so I will wear them. I am not sure I could pull of skinny jeans but do see the point about needing a darker wash. Thank you so much all your help has been great.

Dark jeans are a neutral, so don’t worry about something not matching with them. Skinny jeans are so much easier to tuck into boots than other jeans! I would give them a try.
I will echo a PP and say matchy-matchy is not the way to go, so I’d probably avoid a red shirt or other red accessories. I’d try to pull in another color. Maybe a royal blue, white, or purple?

The coat is nice, but I’m not sure about wearing a heavy coat in engagement photos unless it’s really cold. Red and black says “winter” to me. I think the coat would look nice in a snowy setting.
I agree with others that black or dark wash skinny jeans with black boots would work best with the coat. A gray, beige, or ivory silk blouse would look nice.

Thank you ladies. Looks like even thought I hate it and would rather have a root canal done..looks like I am going shopping this weekend. Hopefully I won’t fail miserably when picking out clothes. Thanks again!

I definitely agree with trying out skinny jeans. You’d be surprised how flattering they are! The lack of extre material really streamlines the bottom half… Once you make the switch you won’t want to go back. 🙂
If you do go with skinny jeans, I’d also choose a different pair of boots. Ankle potties are cute, or knee-high leather boots in either black or brown are a great thing to have. Skinny jeans + boots = my uniform.
