Today I finished my latest DIY project.
Since we are having our wedding in a converted wearhouse space which is a bit off the beated path, I decided to put out Banner flags to signal to people they’re at the right place. I was thinking of something like this, like you see outside of a lot of stores these days…
I intially looked at buying them, but they were usually over $100 each, or shipping was astronomically high, So I figured I could make them myself. I used ripstop nylon, pvc piping and conduit piping to make my own banner flag, each cost about $7!!
My plan is to put six banners in the font of the building to signal to people they are in the right place. The other issue with the venue is that the entrance to the space is actually off the parking lot, to the back of the building, even though there’s a door on the front of the building. So my plan is to put two more banner flags at at the entrance on the other-side of the parking lot to call attention to where the actual entrance to the building is. So here are my just completed banner flags we up in our front yard…
the last few steps i’m planning is to cut the poles down a little so they aren’t as tall, right now they are 10 feet tall, I’m thinking 8feet will be perfect, and lastly spray paint the exposed white part of the poles black.
I think something like this would also work well for outdoor or park weddings.
What to you guys think?

Wow! That is impressive and I think will definitely get the job done!
I have thought of using some pvc pipe and quilts or vintage fabrics to make a barrier between the ceremony site and the reception. Otherwise, I think everyone will see our first glance. I don’t know, haven’t figured all that out yet!
Good job though!

Wow! These are waaay impressive! You’re my DIY hero! I wouldn’t even think painting the poles is necessary, they look so good! (But if that’s what you want I’m sure it’ll be great too!)

Thanks again guys! If anyone wants their own wedding flags I’m totally willing to make and sell the actual flag part, and give instructions for the pole set up, which costs a whole $2 a pop from home depot
