So today is the day I’m meeting Darling Husband Aunt, I’m nervous and excited, I feel so silly for having those emotions and I’m afraid I’m going to be let down but I just hope that I make a good impression on her and she can report back to crazy Mother-In-Law and the rest of the family. I went out last night and bought her a wedding gift for her daughter as well. I teetered a lot with this being that the family never acknowledged our wedding or marriage but I’ve never been that type of person to not do the right and decent thing so I got her a gift.
My questions is this, where do we go eat? We are meeting in NYC since that is where his Aunt will be and Darling Husband and I work in the City. She is staying close to where I work so we are going to meet around me, the only problem is I work on 5th ave with some high end , poshy places. She isn’t from NY, actually from out West so we don’t want to take her somewhere that is going to be poshy but then I feel like a cheapo taking her to a burger joint. There is a place I love, Fig and Olive, it’s semi decently priced, nice environment, but it’s def dinner meals around $25 and up, no sandwiches or anything like that. Is that a bit a much, any thoughts?

@ams12:$25 is a nice range. Do they have a variety of food?

Umm, it’s greek/italian fusion I want to say. They have a decent amount of pasta dishes

I think that sounds great. She’s going to know that things are more expensive in the city then in other places.
It was really nice of you to get her daughter a gift! That should help break the ice a bit, hopefully. Good Luck!!

So I just found this other place too. I went here once for a work function, it’s small and nice, it’s more for afterwork happy hour, but they do have a dinner menue that has sandwhiches and is a bit cheaper. So it’s between Volstead and Fig and Olive. Whats yours vote?
