If the nail hasn’t come off on its own already, I would go to the doctor asap and ask about having it removed surgically. It shouldn’t be too painful or gross if the nail is already loose. The sooner you have it taken off, the sooner the new nail can grow in — at least that would make sense to me. I’m not a doctor, obviously…
It seems to me that three months should be plenty of time for you to get a completely new toenail. Good luck! Get a doctor’s advice asap!

this happened to me a long time ago in grade school, my big nail was ripped off and it has not been the same since 🙁
I never tried a fake nail but I think you should just put it over your current one. I would call my dr though for sure!

If you get your nail removed it will not grow back in time… I did fake nails for years and they looked awesome, but if someone steps on your fake toenail or something it’s likely to fall off easily.

Thank you all for your responses. The prescription my doctor gave me is for 90 days. I just called and left him a message so I will see what he tells me tomorrow. I will keep you all posted. Thank you again for all of the advice.
Let’s hope for the best!!

I used to be a ballerina, and my big toe nails would bruise and fall off all the time. You might not have a complete toenail in three months, but it will have started to grow back. Mine always did. Do NOT put an acrylic nail over a fungal infection.
I guess I don’t know what you’re worried about as far as your wedding goes. Are you seriously going to have your photographer take a close up shot of your feet? That’s not pretty, even with all ten toenails intact. And from far away, no one will be able to tell. If you’re worried about the pain, that’s a different story, but hopefully it will have cleared up by then a new nail will have grown in enough so that it doesn’t hurt.

I was training for a half marathon in HS around prom time and had lost 4 of my nails from trail running….I just painted the nail bed and no one could tell!

Ugh I’m a marathoner- I’m going to lose toenails before the wedding. I got shoes that have only a tiny peeptoe and a huge flower. Battle wounds and scars just make me more badass right??? I guess this isn’t a huge deal for me- then again, running a marathon is way more important to me than having amazing feet for my wedding day.
That said- if I wasn’t a marathoner, I would be PISSED if my toenail came off.
