We are also a lid down household. Because of where we live, we are always in water conservation mode and only flush the toilet when necessary. We follow the potty poem that says, “If yellow, let it mellow. If it’s brown, flush it down.” No one wants to see or smell that!

@panterapeach:  Love this! We are a lid up, but seat DEFINITELY DOWN family.  I have told Darling Husband that if I see a toliet seat up, I will take that to mean that he is moving out of our home:) (Maybe a LITTLE over dramatic, but I hate seats up!)

    Lid up pretty much always.

Toilet seat sometimes gets put back down by Darling Husband, sometimes not.  It’s not one of those things I care a lot about.

Hah, funny and unusual topic… I don’t know why I developed the habit of lid DOWN when I moved away from my parents (who are lid UP), but I definitely still follow that habit, and SO was happy to oblige.

We keep the lid and seat down as much as possible.

    P.S. You’ve had a lot of toilet-related posts lately. 😉

We are a seat down family 100% of the time. One of the few things that FI’s ex wife did that I am actually genuinely thankful about is that she educated him on the importance of putting the seat down. So we never have an issue with this.

We used to be a lid down family too until my son started potty training. He’s still working on becoming more efficient so we tend to leave the lid up to save him a little time when he’s cutting it close. However, he already is well trained to put the seat back down when he’s done.

We have dogs so everything is down so they don’t drink out of it.

The seat is always down (thanks Fiance haha!) and the lid is usually up because our cat refuses to drink out of her water bowl and will only drink out of the toilet.

We only shut it when we’re not going to be at home so that she doesn’t fall in and smash her head or something while we’re gone haha

We are lid/seat down but only because I go behind Darling Husband and put them down.  Sigh.  I like them both to be down because I just feel like if you open something, you close it.  You open a door, you close it.  You lift the toilet lid, you close it when you’re done.

Not sure when I became so particular about this, I grew up in a “lid up” household. 😛

Lid and seat down!  You don’t have to worry about dropping anything into the toilet that way.  I also like to think it’s more hygenic when I flush the toilet with the lid down.

Darling Husband was good with the seat, but I had to train him to put the lid down too.  It didn’t take him too long though.

Lid and seat down here, too. I saw something on TV at some point (Mythbusters, maybe?) that showed just how much microscopic spray comes out of your toilet when you flush and lands all around the bathroom — ick.
