I am going to a place that specializes in once-wed type dresses AND has new stuff too.
I am hoping that something there will WOW me more than either of the 2 that are currently pulling me in opposit directions, AND for something under $500. 😉
Wish me good dress-finding mojo, please. I am sick of the entire topic. I am not holding out a lot of hope as i wear a bridal 14-18 but it could happen, right? In my quest to save money AND be ecstatic I have given myself a migraine and put myself into a dress depression of sorts!
Oh well, at least I got my deposit sent off today for our venue. That’s one thing right?

Good luck with that! NotFroofy and I both ended up getting our dresses from the same consignment shop.

Well, it was whatever. I did cement some things I already knew about what I do or don’t like on my body.
If I was wanting the ever popular strapless dress I’d have been in heaven. This is a local place that sells brand new dresses from various makers and nothing in there was more than $300, I don’t think, with most falling between $150 and $250. Brand new!
Just not for me. If you are local (san antonio tx) pm me and I’ll share.
I found one semi-possible for $250, beautiful back and bodice but skirt was a snoozer. My mom was there and kept telling me how we could add to the skirt, but I just wasn’t feeling it. I don’t think my mom gets the whole finding “the one” thing.
Oh and another for $300 that I just posted about, stunner in a soft pink with huge train and jewels, but about 2 sizes too small for me.
The trip wasn’t totally in vain. I am still leaning more and more towards my “original” dress that I’d planned to purchase (jacquelin exclusive 9802). The owner was very nice and suggested 3 more places for me to shop based on what I’m looking for, and is going to check on that too small dress for me, and says she gets new stuff in every six to eight weeks so I might go back one more time before ordering the other one. It was pretty laid back. She didn’t hover but was there to help me zip and unzip until my mom showed up.
Oh and she had the most interesting vintage hat collection!! And reasonable! My mom bought me the cutest little black velvet-edged with birdcage veil vintage hat and I wore it out to dinner!

hummm well if the dress was’t the one then you can’t force it, but if you wanted to perk up the skirt what about a colored pettiecoat under it? The store sounds like it would bee a hoot to just roam around, too bad I don’t live in San Antonio!!!

@Daisylynn: Yeah, the skirt was so plain my mom originally mistook it for the underneath slip when it was still in the bag! I was just kind of “meh” overall about it. I am going back for other stuff though.. the had an entire regular clothing section on the other side i never got to see, plus a ton of bridal jewlery and that sort of thing. My mom wants to go back to find something to wear for the wedding plus a funky hat but not one of the ‘Queen of England” ones as she called them. lol.
