I am in need of some shoe advice! I am getting married in this dress:
The wedding will be semi-formal with ceremony outdoors and reception indoors. I am NOT a heels person at all and am dreading wearing heels all day long. However, I will need around a 3-inch heel to avoid hemming my dress…
So that brings me to Toms wedges. This is the pair I’m considering:
They are a soft pink color (my colors are navy, blush, ivory, and gray) and I would attach some shoe clips like these..
Will these shoes be too casual for a semi-formal wedding?
Do they completely clash with my all-lace dress?
Am I silly to worry about it since no one will really see my shoes?
Are these things even comfortable?
Any advice would be great, especially from bees who own some Toms wedges! Sorry the pics are so big, not really tech savvy..

@cestvrai: I think they’re lovely! If anyone questions them, you can just point out that they’re a good cause 🙂
I haven’t personally worn them, but I hear they’re mighty comfy 🙂

@cestvrai: I think theyre cute! I dont thimk anything will clash really and those will be perfect! Im probably going to bite the bullet and get their ballet flats to go with my lace dress

@cestvrai: I think they just look just fine, and you’re right – no one will see them!
Better to be comfy, than to wear shoes that are fancier and be in pain.

Do it!! I wanted to wear Toms under mine (since you can’t see anyway) but my mom had such an opinion against that that I wore pretty uncomfortable shoes. I ended up barefoot really quick into the reception with massive blisters!

If it were me, I would just get the dress hemmed and wear flats.

@cestvrai: Your gown is gorgeous, but I really don’t think the shoes go well with it. They’re very casual and your dress is so elegant! I completely understand that you want to be comfortable on your wedding day!!! I am actually wearing sparkly Jcrew flats with my wedding gown 🙂 I couldn’t find any wedges that I loooooved, but for me, it was always between flats and wedges. It is a really inexpensive alteration to have your gown shortened!

blah! I never want to be in the position where I have to wear heels because of my dress!! I hate heels!
I would go for the Toms for sure, but make sure they’re comfy!
I find wedge heels are definitely the most comfortable; however, I feel they need straps to be comfortable. I have a pair of heels that are wedge heels without a strap across and they are so painful to wear.

Tom’s shoes are great, but make sure you wear those puppies in before the wedding. I bought some for a trip once with lots of walking, because I love the flats, and had MASSIVE blisters by the end of the day because they are so stiff.

@cestvrai: Those are SO cute! I had a friend who got married in Toms–it was cute!

I say do it!! I work fancy painful badgley mischka 5″ heels for the ceremony and no one could even see them! I felt like the only reason to wear really fancy shoes is for the pictures. I changed into those pink toms wedges for the reception and my feet nearly cried with relief. Plus I danced the night away. I thought they were so comfortable and cute, even though they were a lot less fancy then my ball gown.

That’s what I was going to do. No one else can really see your shoes anyway and I’d rather be taller and comfortable, than miserable for the ceremony and barefoot the rest of the night.

Thanks for the encouragement! I am defininitely thinking that I will go comfort > style on this one…and I do think the pink color makes them kinda cute! I have considered flats also, but I think with my style of dress, I will want some extra height since I’m only 5’4”. Now I just hope the Toms website will restock them in my size since they’re currently out!

your gonna rock those wedges. I’m wearing black and white polka dot wedges. I love them with my lace and tulle dress. no one else does but I don’t care because I love them!

@cestvrai: One of my bridesmaids wore those shoes at my wedding! I don’t have a very good picture of them but maybe this will help you out a little. I thought they were really pretty and she said they were very comfortable.
I also changed into these Toms wedges for my reception, and I had a lace dress as well. They didn’t really show at all. I had pretty stillettos for the getting ready pics and ceremony, but there was no way I was going to wear them outside all night for the reception!
