crisy003:  UGH… not so much in my family but my DH is from a culture that is “supposed” to name any boys born after their pateral grandfather and girls after maternal grandmother… so basically if we had a boy his dad “expects” us to name him his name…. NOT HAPPENING! My DH father has seven siblings (mostly male) and they all had at least one boy so all my DH 1st cousins are named the same damn name (after FIL’s father!) its insane. I dont like Father-In-Law name, and most of the time I dont like Father-In-Law so we’ve already talked about it and said we’d do a middle name…… its been all drama and middle isnt good enough, but thats just too damn bad. When Father-In-Law can push a baby out of his p*nis then we’ll talk lol.

AND because their fathers are from the “male side” of the grandparents they all have the same last name!!! It’s a very long as italian name and there are like 15 of them lol like WTF…. expand the pool people.

Here it’s Oliver or Olivia in DH’s family.  So they tried names as “SO’s Oliver/Olivia”

It worked.  Until…

His cousin Oliver started dating an Andrea.

His brother Andrew is married an Olivia.

Both use the nicknames of Ollie and Andy.

We are not passing on the family name.

We had 3 Debbie’s in on one side of our family! We called them Debbie #1, Debbie #2 and Debbie #3 lol

me and SO were talking about names and said we liked Jackson. Then I thought about and his cousins name is Jackson and me and his aunt have the same name. So we couldtn have two christys and two Jackson’s lol I also get confused when his aunt is around.
