My FH and I tried 13 different flavors from the bakery we’re getting our cake from, and the best flavor by far was completely unexpected.
Now, we’re not very adventurous people, food-wise. I went in fully convinced that we’d choose a yellow cake, maybe carrot if we were feeling frisky. But the minute we tried Strawberry Banana we both fell in love! I usually HATE anything Strawberry Banana flavored since it’s usuallly super artificial tasting and very sugary, but this cake wasn’t either. It was mild and kind of similar to banana bread since it was made with real banana and not artificial flavoring.
Anyway, it was delicious and we really want to use it, but I’m not sure if it’d be too unique a flavor to serve. We’d probably have a more tame flavor like vanilla as well, but I’m not sure. Opinions?

Tasty. One of our cupcake flavors was Monkey Business which was banana cake with chocolate frosting 🙂

I think it sounds amazing.
Sadly, Ive heard that many people dont touch the cake regardless of what flavor you choose. Nothing wrong with wowing the ones who do eat it. And honestly all the matters (as far as I’m concerned) is that you and the hubs get to eat something you honestly enjoy on your wedding day.
You could offer the two flavors with different tiers… but my vote is to be adventerous! You may turn others on to it was well!

Yes! I love strawberries and the Fiance loves bannans—wish our baker had this option 🙂

I wouldn’t touch it. I personally don’t like the two together.

Sounds delicious to me. If you have any options though you could do that. We had a three tier. Bottom and top were plain old chocolate and the middle tier was an amazing citrus cake for those that were feeling more adventurous.
If not, do you have other desserts? If so I wouldn’t even worry that some people might not enjoy The cake.

Go for it! My sister runs a little cupcake business and she makes strawberry banana cupcakes (similar to what you were describing) for most family birthday functions we have, and they are always the first to go! Everyone loves them. Just make sure you label the flavors for any allergies and such 🙂

@acciotoni: I would be all over a strawberry-banana cake!

Thanks guys!!! I definitely get it then, and I probably will get another flavor just in case though.
We’re going to be having a dessert table as well, and cupcakes instead of a huge sliced cake, so I know I shouldn’t worry about it to much since there will be a lot of options… people are going to figure it out one way or another haha. I was just so shocked by our choice that I got confused. Thanks! 🙂

It sounds great! When you said crazy, I was expecting something off the wall (like, spinach flavored or something!) – but strawberry banana? YUM!

Sounds awesome! I am dead-set on one of my flavors being chocolate chip cake/passion fruit curd/coffee icing = so nothing is weird!

doesn’t sound good to me, but if you love it go for it. As long as you have a more traditional flavor for others I think it’s fine.
