Rise & grind ladies!!!
I hope all of you had a great wekkend =D
I have a question ; this weekend I received in the mail an ad which is showing “save up to 80% off on designer bridal gowns.” I’m dying to go!!! My wedding is 1 year & a half away….. is it to soon to start looking? What if I fall in love with it? When is the right time to start looking? Is there a right time?So many thoughts in my head… should I go or should I wait??? HELP!?!

Have you chosen your venue yet?

I don’t think it’s too early to look but many brides buy a dress out of excitement in the moment that they then regret. Are you someone who will be so excited to go dress shopping that you would just buy something? A great deal that you regret and have to buy another dress doesn’t turn out to be such a great deal.

People have different ideas of the “right time to buy” and it all depends on your personality and how easily you change your mind and how likely it is for you to have dress regret. bearing in mind that there will always be new dresses and designs being made and there will be other sales and good offers in the future. Personally the earliest I would buy a dress would be 9 months ahead.

I say go for it! I am a February 2012 bride and I just ordered my dress on Saturday. Just make sure that you are 100% certain that it is your dress before you purchase. I waited a few weeks after trying my dress on to make sure it was the one for me before I ordered it. If you find one, maybe you could go to lunch or something just to get away and see how you feel about it later.

The dress was the very first thing that I purchased – over a year in advance. I already knew what I wanted, so it was easy to make the commitment when I met HER! Like others have said, make sure that you are absolutely sure. If you know that you tend to change your mind, then this may not be a great idea for you (sales make you do crazy stuff!)

I bought my dress a year out and had no regrets. But I warn you, if you do buy, STOP looking at wedding dresses afterwards. That way leads to trouble…

- Wedding: June 2010 - New York Botanical Garden
I bought my dress in Feb 09 for my June 10 wedding – if you find something you love love, go for it. Make sure to take pictures though – I had to revisit them a couple times when I had doubts over the year and a half!

If you have your venue and date officially picked…go for it!

I agree with annetossy, you should pick your date and venue first. After that, its never too soon to dress shop! I’ve actually found that the dress is a huuuuuge part of the wedding… it plays a role in the tone, colors, flowers you name it!
Have fun : )

I make wedding gowns on Etsy and I tell all of my clients to order their dress 6-9 months in advance. You are going to have so much going on with other details the closer the wedding gets that you don’t want to be worried about the main highlight of the day! Get the Venue, Wedding Dress and Bridesmaids dresses out of the way early.

I waited for the last possible lines of dresses to come out, for I did not want to pick something before something I thought was even better came out. On the other hand, I did wind up getting something from my designer’s earlier collection.
