Mine ends at 10:30pm but starts with canapes and drinks at 5pm. I get fined if guests are still there after 11pm.

Our ceremony started at 4pm and we went a little after 10 pm (was on a family farm), and I was ready to go before it ended. ๐Ÿ™‚ Honestly, majority of the people took off about 8 or 9 and the remaining were our close family and friends (still about 30 though).

A lot of it depends on age and personality too. We are older (33) and didn’t want a dance so there is only so much you can do for that amount of time anyway ๐Ÿ™‚ We wanted to be sure we were able to sit and talk with everyone and just relax after the ceremony…we loved it and everyone else did too. Just depends on what your circle is like and what you want!

I’d just like to add that not all of us over 40 leave weddings at 8 pm!

(had to get that in there)

Mine’s ending at 9:30 because I don’t want to pay the upcharges for a reception longer than 5 hours.  Fine by me, we’re all going to go back and party at the hotel bar!

We are dealing with the EXACT same thing. We have to be out by 10pm (that includes cleanup and everything) because of the noise issue ๐Ÿ™ So I’m thinking the reception will have to be over at 9pm so we can cleanup once we get everyone out (I cannot stand to see people packing up stuff while guests are still there!). I originally wanted our ceremony to be right before sunset so we can take our wedding pics at sunset but then that would mean a 3 hr reception at the most! So we have to move the ceremony time earlier just to accomodate time to have a longer reception ๐Ÿ™

Our reception will end at 10pm, staring at 6.  No after-party. It’s a Sunday.
