i have been looking around at rings as i originally had my eye on a full circle diamond band. after finding out the damage ($2500!) i determined that all i wanted was it to LOOK like a full circle, and a good half would do the trick.
that brought the price range down to the $1400 mark, so much better.
dragged the boy into the jewellers last night to check out a ring i thought he would like, and they have a big Mother’s day sale on.
i can get a half circle, half carat TDW, princess cut channel set band on sale for $799 – RRP $1299!
but the boy is worried its too early, they will get lost/stolen, whatever. coz i have to buy both together hahaha
so, without the question of money, is it too early? they will take three weeks to come in to the shop in the right size, and then i can ‘layby’ them to lessen the lost/stolen debate.
what would you do?

I don’t think it’s too early. But there may be even better sales between now and then. That would be my biggest worry as I like to know I got things as cheap as possible! As long as this is the exact ring you are sure you want and you don’t think you will get buyer’s remorse if you see something better/cheaper then go for it.

@nephthysa: You can do much, MUCH better shopping online. Check out pricescope for some reputable vendors, but off the top of my head I can think of a couple full eternity bands for more along the pricepoint of what you’re paying for the half. Try this page:
And I don’t think it’s too early, just be sure you already know for sure what you want. Good luck!

Unfortunately, I am Australia-based, so limited in what I can get here. Warranty is one concern, insurance on shipping, taxes for import, etc. I will check it out though, [email protected]:

I definitely don’t think it’s too early. My rings came as a set, and I have my wedding ring tucked away in a safe spot in my apartment. As long as you have a spot where you keep your valuables, there shouldn’t be any issues. Make sure you get tenants or homeowners insurance as well in case of a break in. Where I live though, the crime rate is pretty much non existant…so we were definitely not worried about this. I love having it…. if I ever have a bad day it’s a real pick me up to try my ring on and then put it back in its’ box after a few minutes 😉
If it’s the one you love, go for it.

@nephthysa: no problem! Ooh ok, true, yeah I have heard some horror stories trying to get jewelry through customs over there. But it can be done! Maybe ask in the PS forums for aussies’ experience with that.

We got our wedding bands a month ago =) lol.
I also went with diamonds on the top half that still look like they come the whole way around… save $1500! Here’s my ring… $800
I say go for it!

We looked at rings the other day, while the prongs were getting tightened on my engagement ring. I wanted to have some idea of what they will cost so I can figure them into my budget. I really liked the half eternity band. It looks like my band (in white gold) will be about $400 and his will be about $100 (titanium).

jewellery store had an Easter sale (30% off – nothing on mine though) so i ordered both! total for two rings was just over $1500 and he got gold too.
one less thing to think about – now to wait til they arrive and pay them off!

We ordered ours a few weeks ago and they came in on Friday. Our reasoning is that platinum and diamond prices are only going up, so we might as well get this purchase squared away.

I don’t think it’s too early. Get it out of the way. I was so glad we got ours early– it was so nice to not have to worry about saving for rings while we were saving for the wedding.
