I booked my venue over a year out. Lots of places will book up that far in advanced. If you already have an idea of where you want to be, no harm in looking around and snagging a good deal if you find it!

We booked ours 14 months in advance. Just make sure you don’t book anything out of “engagement excitement” as I call it. I did that with our photographer and 4 months before the wedding realized it was a huge mistake. And an expensive one 🙂 The venue I do not regret at all though. Best of luck!

Just make sure it fits with your overall budget and itsn’t a huge stretch.  We booked our venue 18 months in advance.  It was a great deal and a beautiful location.  We weren’t the only ones booking that far in advance.

We booked 15 months ahead of the wedding date. If places book up to 2 years in advance in your area, I’d definitely book as soon as possible if you find your ideal venue in your budget that can accommodate your number of guests. It’s just one nice large thing to check off the to-do list!

We got engaged in June and went to look at our venue choice two weeks ago.  Our wedding was set for May 2015, we wanted the 16th (1st choice) or the 23rd (2nd choice).  The 16th was already booked!  2 years in advance.  So we booked it last week.  Venues nowadays book up so fast, especially if it’s a nice and cheap place.
