I think that you have to be sure NOT to second guess yourself.  I’m planning quite early as well, and I am refusing to think twice after the decision is made.  I thought about it a lot BEFORE making the decision, so no need to keep on questioning it!  Also, I have stopped looking at other venues/caterers/dresses etc after you commit, so it helps with preventing second guessing!

I am fourteen months out and here in DC I have missed a few places because they are booked.  I mean in a market like Washington, DC many vendors and venues are already booked through Fall 2010.

So we got engaged in the beginning of March and a day in mind for August 2010. Welp, as it turns out the venue is already booked for that date! That left two obvious options: find another venue or find another date. The other venues in the area are definitely not up to par with this one with less or no "extras" included. So now we are secured for September 2010. It’s a shame because the date we originally were looking at is my parents’ anniversary. Oh well! Now we have our own "day" 🙂
