    I love the first dress.  I totally don’t agree it is too formal.  I mean, I love it!  I don’t think you can be overdressed for your own event.

    The first dress is more appropriate for a black tie gala, not a rehearsal dinner. That is, unless your dinner is that formal.

    @IzzyBear:  yeah the long dress is beautiful!!! I loooooove gold:p given that I haven’t seen the venue, I still think the short one would be more appropriate 🙂 & the short dress is a great bachlorette dress:)
