catskillsinjune : I kind of agree with you. This dress isn’t doing much for my silhouette. Before I tried on dresses I had the same idea as you, that I would look better with a poofy skirt, but then I tried several dresses and the A-line dresses (as you are describing) with volume in the skirt swamp me out completely. I’m quite petite and the big dresses make me look almost as wide as I am tall. The only dresses that gave me any kind of shape at all were the sheath, fit and flare.
I’m posting a few pictures.. I’d like to know if you/anyone else agrees with this assessment or it’s all in my head.

Sheath/fit and flare types.

I actually love the A-line on you! But my new favorite from what you’ve posted is the 3rd dress (where someone is holding up the train). Gorgeous!! The last one is too.

greywacke : in the end, the most important thing is that YOU feel good about how you look. But honestly i think the a line dressed you posted are both really lovely looking on you (and much more flattering). I don’t think they look like they’re swallowing you at all

I’d go with fit and flare, I think it flatters your figure and it’s a beautiful dress. Have you tried on mermaid dresses? I think they would look nice on your body type.
Ilive by, just because it zips doesn’t mean it fits. Rather go 4 sizes bigger and get it altered than 1 size too small.

If you are serious about losing weight, I recommend the “Fast Metabolism Diet.” It’s only a month long and will change your life.
Also, try contacting other salons. This place looks like they have it, and it seems legitimate.

greywacke : I agree with some other bees here..I was planning on losing about 10 lbs before my wedding too. I actually weigh more now than when I bought my dress, but was doing a lot of weigh tlifting so some of it is muscle as my measurements are mostly the same.
I’m not where I wanted to be weight wise for my wedding and my wedding is in 19 days. So make your own judgement but don’t count on losing 10 lbs. It’s better safe than sorry IMO.

greywacke : the first A-line dress without the fuzz looks great on you!

I think the first A-line is lovely, and the fit and flare with someone holding the train is great too!
