They’re definitely formal. I agree with the previous person that the embellishments make it more appropriate for nighttime. Maybe something like this? It’s a little more airy and light for summer.

Yes, I think that is too formal for and outdoor May wedding. But not because of the length, I think floor length chiffon (especially in blush) can look perfect for an outdoor wedding – I was a Bridesmaid or Best Man in a wedding like that – chiffon, floorlength blush dresses, outdoors in June.

But the one in particular you posted looks more formal. Maybe it’s the embellishments like PPs said, maybe it’s “extra” length at the bottom where the dress doesn’t just sweep ground but has a very short *train* type thing going on. It seems very “indoor black tie event” -ish
