So went to DB today, here’s the ranty information from my co-workers who essentially told me to find the biggest non-form fitting dress for my figure. I told the cosultant at DB not to show me anything that was not fitted and that I want to show my hips
Too heavy for a fitted dress (bit o' ranty)
I went with an aquiantance who has great style and wore a Vera Wang fit n flare to her elopement last year. So the experience was blah, nothing special, sales person was nice, it wasn’t very busy, the big downfall was that the 14 dresses I had made a list of only 1 was avaliable in my size. Turns out at DB I am a 16 hip and 6 top so there was a lot of clipping. Here is my favorite.
The FH asked to see the pictures and liked it a lot, said I looked “good” and “sexy,” I love it and my friend did too. The issue is we have no wedding date because we are eloping in TN, so May-ish is the hopes, anything after July would be too damn hot for me and my crinoline. This dress in petite takes 20 weeks! and in regular 12, I will need a ton of alteration $$ and that will take up to 2 months per DB. I am looking again in 2 weeks to a few designer stores. If I like anything there I will likely go the Jasmines route which is another 12 weeks….so time is ticking. I also plan on losing some weight before the wedding.
YAY! Here’s the dress http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Lace-Over-Charmeuse-Gown-with-Beaded-Floral-Detail-SWG400_Bridal-Gowns-Features-All-Gowns of couse it’s the $1,000 Galina (I found a used on on pre-owned for $575.)

@TexasAggieMom: Thanks for the support. I felt really confident in the dress and with my body 🙂
I have decided by Feb 8 (a few days past my 30th birthday) to make a final decision. I might also just buy the re-sale for less than $600 and since she lives nearby I might try to see if I can stop in person and make sure it’s in good condition first. YAY!

I love that dress on you and your figure is GREAT! Can’t believe anyone would ever say otherwise… people are so ignorant sometimes.
But seriously, I LOVE that dress on you!

@iheartmarshall: Yup, had me so aggreviated and self-conscience about my body. My FH saw it (surprisingly he wanted to and had an opinion) and said “your azz doesn’t look *that* big!” My close friend who I just showed the pictures said it was great, but cost as much as my car.

Well, I think these pictures prove you are NOT too heavy for a fitted dress. You have a great figure, and it looks fabulous on you! I love that bow and the train in the back.

@everyheart: Thanks, my close friend just said “all you photos should be taken from behind, like looking over your shoulder!” Another really close friend said I looked “slim” “beautifu” and “very suiting to your body!”
I am super excited now! ((booty shakin’ dance)) I am now going to speed up dress shop in the enxt 2 weeks to make a decision ASAP. I am making 2 appointments for this Wednesday and 2 for Sunday so hopefully in a week I will know!

I added a poll as my mom (who could be another topic) sent me this e-mail:
“The dress is nice, I like the top/front, love the blingy belt. Not so much the back. I think the tushy shape of the dress is to ‘fitted’ for you. Maybe a bit looser from the waist down, not baggy, but more “A’ lined than hour-glass shaped?”
And although I really like the dress I also care about opinions and don’t want to spend all this $$ to look back and be sorry I made this choice. So bee’s yay on this shape on my curvy figure or nay. I figured with a poll people would be more honest if they felt anonymous.
