I always thought that a “toss” bouquet was entirely because the bride (understandably) wanted to keep her own wedding bouquet instead of giving it away to a guest. At my recent wedding, however, I discovered another reason: some bouquets are heavy! You can’t tell by looking at it, but mine probably weighed a good 5 lbs. I was relieved I didn’t plan to toss it during the reception; it could easily have hurt someone! So, if you plan to throw your actual bouquet, you might want to take that into account.

Oh I totally agree. Mine was ridiculously heavy too! I also had over 2 dozen roses in mine and loved it! But I purposefully got a toss bouquet for that reason.

The florists around me provide a toss bouquet for free 🙂

Yeah – my actual bouquet was pretty heavy too – way heavier than it looks! My florist actually put a small thumb loop on the bouquet that I could put my thumb inside to help support it as I carried it! Quite helpful!
