I was expecting a picture of a flowing grecian dress in front of a VW bus LOL You look very well proportioned and great in that dress! It really defines your waist and I think the sweetheart will make you look even more hourglass. Definitely keep shopping, but take more pics from all angles and keep this one in mind. You want to feel completely comfortable in it.  So glad you are adventurous and trying on all different styles!  oh, and this is only $750?? awesome

I think your hip doesn’t look very big. But my advice is… also try some A-line and then compare which style looks better on you. No need to decide immediately, right?

Coming from another “hippy” bride, I think you’re well proportionate so it looks awesome!!  I think that’s the dress for you!  Good find.

It looks great.  The sweetheart will draw attention up, and the mermaid will draw it down – trust me, no one will even notice your hips.  Only your curves.  Which is a good thing!

It looks fantastic! Fit and flair, IMO, looks the best on someone with hips.

My first reaction to your pic, “Most women would kill for that beautiful hourglass figure!” …After reading OP’s, it seems like other bees think so too!  You really look stunning in that dress! It looks like it was made for you!

It really does draw a lot of attention to the hip area….

I think, though, that what you dislike probably has more to do with the dress than you. A very persuasive salesperson at David’s Bridal convinced me to try on a fit-and-flare despite all my objections, and it actually did a great job of NOT drawing a ton of attention to the hip area, while still giving the trumpet-type silhouette.

The URL for the dress is here:http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_All-Over-Lace-A-Line-Gown-with-Obi-Sash-CWG365_Bridal-Gowns-Features-Designer-Gowns-Oleg-Cassini

Keep in mind, I’m a size 8 in shirts and a size 12/14 in pants. I put this lower-body-huggin’ dress on and it made my mama cry. You’re quite a bit less pear than I am, so it would probably look AMAZING on you.

I think you look incredible, and I personally like a fit-and-flare best on a girl with some hips.  It’s possible that you’re having a mental block with the style because, like a PP said, you aren’t used to something so form-fitting; I have this problem with makeup and then realize in retrospect how great I looked!  However, if you aren’t loving the way you look, keep looking.  I would definitely try on more dresses in this style, though!  Happy shopping!

Firstly—I totally thought hippy meant flower child hippy….anyways lol

I love the overall silhoette, but I feel like the neckline is just closing your neckline off; I think this dress with a sweetheart neckline would be much more flattering 🙂

I think it looks awesome!  Who makes this dress and what is the name of it?
