Hello fellow brides!
My Fiance and I were engaged last december 2011 and now getting married in May 2013. At first we decided not to have an engagement party, but now feel a little deprived on some spotlight moments. We were wondering if it’s too late to have some time of small get together celebrating our engagement and up coming wedding?
OR do you think it would be more appropriate to have a 200 or 150 day wedding countdown party? We’re not doing this for the gifts, more just to have a pre-wedding celebration.
What are you’re thoughts brides?!?!

Why don’t you have a wedding shower? That is popular now. I do think it is too late for an engagement party and people would think it would be weird if you had a countdown party. There are already a lot of parties with weddings as it is. I am sure it will relieve your guests if you do not have them attend all these extra parties and your wedding.

I think its a little late for a true ‘engagement’ party since your wedding is less than 7 months away now! Can you have a joint bachelorette / bachelor party with your friends? Or throw a holiday party?

What’s a wedding shower? is that separate from the bridal shower?

Or a ‘Meet the Bridal Party’ get together where your BM’s can meet his GM?
A wedding shower is the same as a bridal shower I’m pretty sure.

Darling Husband and I had an engagement BBQ in July 2011. We were engaged Christmas Eve 2010. I see no problem with it if you have it really soon. We told guests no presents though some purchased a few. It was just a lot of fun to bring the family together and celebrate our engagement together before the big day.

My Fiance and I are having a save-the-date party instead of an engagement party (we didn’t do Save the Dates in the mail). It’s basically the same thing, but since we were engaged in June and having the party in Nov (wedding is in April 2013), we decided to call it a save-the-date party. We’re not doing a registry or anything, just a casual get together with friends and family. Whatever you decide, I hope it’s lots of fun for your and your Fiance.

I think a wedding shower would be great! You could have it be more of an adult party with a nice dinner, cocktails etc. so it would have more of a party vibe.
