I don’t think so!  I sent out my save the dates in February for my June 2010 wedding.

I would probably just say skip it at this point.  Your invitations will go out in a couple months so they might just be too close to each other.  What I would do is just call or email your out of town guests and give them a heads up on the date and let them know what their options are for travel and hotels.

I think save-the-dates usually go out 3-5 months before the wedding, so you could send them if you could do them soon, otherwise you could skip them.  I sent mine out end of June for my beginning of October wedding, so if you were going to send them, I’d send them in the next couple weeks if possible.

I kinda think it’s a bit late and here is why: I just received an invitation to a wedding on the same day as yours! 🙂 I would just send your invites out a little early since you have some Out of Town guests!

We did email save the dates which might work really well in your situation – you still get to give the out of towners a heads up and there’s no delay.  Not to mention, it’s free and easy to do.  😉

Your wedding is a month before mine- I am just sending the out of town invitation group early and the main batch later.

It depends on when you are planning to mail your invites.  If you are doing them closer to the wedding, then, yes – send STD’s now.  If you are sending them in say – a month or so – then I’d hold off (from an expense standpoint).

If you are concerned about the out of town folks, you could just send them an email announcing your engagement and/or wedding date.

I think you’re ok sending them right now.  If you wait any longer though, you might as well just send early invitations.  🙂  I believe I sent my STD’s four months ahead, and the invitations will be two months ahead.

Some people think this is tacky… but what about a save-the-date EVITE!!! Something elegant like Paperless Post (I love them!!), or even a cute PDF attachment to an email. If the goal is just to get the date on peoples’ calendars so that they start to plan around it, then an informal announcement like that would do the trick!

I think your guests would appreciate a  “save the date” for the wedding, especially since it’s Labor Day Weekend.

Best wishes with your planning!
