So…because of some extraneous circumstances (FI didn’t want to do any wedding planning or discussion until after college graduation), we haven’t mailed out Save-The-Date Cards yet.
Is it too late? Since it’s the start of summer, would it still be good to get something out, since we won’t mail invitations until August? We can probably get the Save-The-Date Cards mailed out early next week…would that be weird, or still be beneficial for our guests?

Go for it! My wedding is 11/12 and I am just getting ready to mail mine.

I would not send them. save the money. We didn’t send them, because we are sending invites out earlier (last week of July) so out of towners know everything.

We just got our Save-The-Date Cards yesterday and I am sending them out this weekend for our October 9 wedding. I don’t plan on sending invites until August (we are doing online rsvp so we don’t need to wait for responses by mail). I especially wanted to send Save-The-Date Cards because it’s a holiday weekend.
In other words, I don’t think it’s necessary but I also don’t think it’s redundant to send Save-The-Date Cards if you don’t plan on sending your invites until August

Does anyone else ever chuckle at the acronym for save the dates? It’s childish, but I think its funny that all the bridal websites and blogs use that shamelessly.

I think it would still be helpful for your guests & not wierd at all.
I am planning to send ours out this week, so if it is something you really want to do then I say go for it!

I’m actually just now getting around to mailing mine as well (we were a little late finalizing a design, and then they got held up at the place we ordered them from). The wedding is 10/15 and they go out tomorrow.
Am really glad you asked this question though, as it had occurred to me that mine may be going out a bit too late as well. But sounds like we’re both good 🙂

Glad to hear I’m not the only 1!! Mine will go out next week for our 11/13 wedding.
