    Hello Bees,

    My Mother-In-Law had a really hard time with the fact that we had a small wedding, so she requested that we send out announcements with a photo from the wedding to her family members that were not invited. She is going to pay for them and send them out, I just need to put them together online and order them. However, life has been such a whirlwind after the wedding, and I just realized that it has been FOUR MONTHS and I haven’t ordered them yet! She doesn’t see anything wrong with sending them out now, but I am wondering if it is way too late and will seem rude/strange/gift grabby for extended relatives to recieve announcements so late? A few of these relatives have already sent cards, so they obviously know about the wedding, but my Mother-In-Law thinks that their feelings will be hurt if they don’t receive an annoucement. It seems like wedding announcements aren’t as common in recent years, so I’ve had trouble finding information/ etiquette regarding them. Any insight would be appreciated!

    The old time goal of annoucements was to send them out the day you get married (or next day) normally they were just text (no photos) and it was to get the word out there first before talk goes through the grapevine.

     

    I was married 3 months ago and I have relatives that had no idea we got married. 

    I recently made holiday cards with a wedding photo and will send it to certain family members.  Now I normally don’t do holidays cards (like ever), but I will this time.   I think tying them in with a holiday card will elimnante any gift grabbiness that one might think of when a true annoucement.  (Even though announcements are truly not gift soliciting mailings.)

    I found it hard to limit it to one photo, but I did!
