I am in need of a quick opinion!
My wedding is in 7 weeks and I have chosen apparently some of the world’s trickiest colors to match: eggplant and peach. Who knew there were so many shades of purple!!
My bridesmaids are wearing dresses from David’s in Lapis. It’s a super-dark eggplanty purple. It’s beautiful with the soft peach I have chosen. I ordered paper lanterns and the purple ones are definitely lighter… more grape-y than eggplant.
I realize that paper is paper and won’t match the lamour of my tablecloths or the dark eggplant of the dresses… so my question is:
Is it ok for the lanterns to be a lighter shade of purple if everything else is darker? Does it matter or am I entering into that crazy-detailed bride stage?

I know the feeling as I’m having an eggplant wedding too! It’s a VERY hard color to match. The lapis color from Davids is beautiful though. I really think that shades are totally fine. I’m a matchy-matchy person too but really when you look at the “big picture” it’ll look great. How many of your guests will actually sit there and put your lantern shade up to the dress and say, “Ohhh…that doesn’t match!”

So true 🙂 I think I am just getting to the point where I am like… Hey I’m done planning now, the only thing left to do is wait… so now I am going to rethink every decision I’ve made!!
Here is a picture of the lantern with the dress swatch on top. It looks closer in this picture than in real life…

Oh, I wouldn’t worry about it at all. I think it’ll look really nice and cohesive. It’s all in the same family! 🙂

I think it will look great. Especially with the lanterns lit up!

One picky detail resolved… now 100 more to go… 😉

Yea, it looks great glad you’re sticking with it!
Its funny that you’re thinking this because my purple maids dresses are the colour of the lanterns and I’m worried about it being too matchy-matchy.
